Rex_Banner: All three AL division races are separated by 2 games or less. Meanwhile, in the NL, the closest division race is 6.5 games and the Braves have the top Wild Card spot by 7 games.

But, thanks to that idiotic second wild card that is such a terrible idea because change is scary and stuff, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Arizona still have plyoff hopes. Man, what a dumb idea that second Wild Card is. Sepetmber would be SOOO much better if the NL races were all but over right now.


It's not the idea that's stupid - it's the one game playoff. Baseball is a game built around series. Make it a best of 3 if you're going to have it. Oooh, god forbid it'll add a maximum of 2 more days to the playoffs. Forcing it to be one game is a joke, like a tacked-on afterthought.

On the bright side, a Baltimore win officially eliminates the Red Sox from the playoffs. So there's that
