It occurs to me, even after taking the last however-many years off of fantasy football before this one, that maybe we should have this thread on Thursdays now since that's when the first game of the week is always gonna be thanks to NFLN wanting to take one game a week to fark with people who don't have NFLN in their basic tier (where it doesn't belong IMHO). I've had my team set since then, I think.

Well, other than that whole WTF are two of my starters doing on the probable list right now thing, and I don't have a replacement for one of them.

I had to bench Jennings for Alfred Morris. I dont think a Thursday thread would do well, but open to others' opinion. Other than the 2 teams- everyone is waiting to see who practices Friday, what the weather is like etc. There just isnt much new fantasy info out there by Thurs other than the NFLN-game inactives list.

14team PPR-- Is there ANY reason I should think about starting Andre Roberts or Brian Hartline over Kevin Smith in my flex spot?

LucklessWonder: Any news on Pierre Garcon? Debating whether to put him in my flex over Stevie Johnson

From what I understand, Garcon is not expected to play today. I already benched him. I'd go with Johnson.

Does anyone know if Colston's foot is OK?

Also, want to send a sincere F*** you to Jay Cutler & Brandon Marshall for the latter giving me under 2 points on Thursday.

Last I knew, he's out. I'm trying to decide between Titus Young and Randy Moss as a flex.

I second this motion. I generally wait until Sunday morning to overthink my fantasy team's roster (I'm starting Matt Cassell this week over Philip Rivers, I think), and I thanks to the Thursday game, I started an inactive Greg Jennings. I could at least have thrown Sidney Rice in there and gained a couple of token points.

2012-09-16 10:10:01 AM
Crap. If Garcon is out, I have to pick from a consortium of Michael Crabtree, Justin Blackmon, and Dexter McCluster (My WR2 was Greg Jennings, and I benched him for Randall Cobb on Thursday). Which one should I go with?

Also, in a different league, I'm debating between Big Ben against the Jets (Revis is out, so I'm leaning this way) and Ponder against the god-awful Indy D.

RG3 vs the Rams or Rivers vs. the Titans? I am leaning towards the Titans, but seriously: who can catch on the Chargers besides Gates?

Brent Celek or Jason Witten?

Trent Richardson or Alfred Morris?

Is Maclin's injury bad enough to start Torrey Smith over him? I can never make the right decision with injuries.

I've got both Maclin and Garcon.

Garcon isn't expected to play, so if Maclin can't go would you rather play Tamme or McCluster?

Yes, those are my other options.

RG3, IMO.

Celek and Morris.

Rivers v. TEN or Stafford @ SF? I'm leaning toward Rivers.

Leaning Celek and Richardson.

I have trouble buying Morris until he does it twice in a row.

I KNOW Richardson will be underwhelming, but he's a known quantity.  Plus, he'll get more carries.

That's what I was originally going to post (I have Richardson starting in one of my money leagues), but the guy looked so, SO underwhelming against the Eagles that I leaned toward the Rams and their 15-points-to-Kevin-Smith-giving run D.

2012-09-16 10:34:23 AM
I've been treading the danger line trying to decide with Greene vs Richardson. Leaning Richardson because my opponent started Cutler and I have wiggle room. Also, Peyton or a Garcon-less RG3? About 80/20 Peyton but want to hear second opinions.

Witten, and as much as you can trust any Shanahan running back, Morris.

TwoBeersOneCan: Is Maclin's injury bad enough to start Torrey Smith over him? I can never make the right decision with injuries.

I would start Torrey Smith over him anyway, but yeah, the injury means Smith is a better choice this week than Maclin.

Both seem like reasonable options, but I'd probably go with Peyton, if only because of him having a longer track record of doing what he does.

LucklessWonder:

Cutler actually scored negative points in our league, and the guy that has him also has Marshall. They combined for 1.75 total points vs the projected 25.94.

Sorta on the fence between Newton and Rivers. I don't expect the Saints to look like total crap two weeks in a row on defense (and Newton is a known quantity), but I don't like the look of Carolina's running game either. If I go with Rivers, I get the double-dip with Gates, who's listed as questionable, but I have Tamme on the bench if he doesn't go.

I also put in Sproles instead of Greene (NYJ) so I could flex Cobb. Should I not have done that?

I have those 2 and I'm starting Manning. I think the Broncs/Falcons game will be a shootout.

At least you didn't have James Jones in your lineup. There was a lot of speculation going into that game that he was going to get a bunch of yards due to Jennings being out but he ended up with something like 2 catches and negative points.

As a matter of fact, someone in my league dropped Fred Jackson (injured 3-4 weeks) to pick up Jones and he would have scored more points had he played injured FJax instead of healthy James Jones.

PPR League - Have Welker in at flex, but am nervous that he's on the decline. Options are Beanie Wells or Dexter McCluster. Thinking McCluster now, but know Welker is going to go off if i do.

That's the other thing that I thought about while I was out. Even if you set it for Thursday, in the three days after someone could change from probable to out to questionable to doubful to playing and back again. I haven't tried moving anyone on my roster, should see if i still can....

Welker is playing the Arizona Cardinals. Just sayin'.

I've got Ben or Carson Palmer against the Dolphins. With Revis out it's settled but if he wasn't......it'd be interesting.

Sorry, should have been clearer - Sproles was going to be in regardless, so my question was more Greene vs Cobb at the flex. My other RB is Bradshaw (until he gets hurt), and my two WR are Megatron and Cruz.

Raplisberger or Alex Smith. Hmm....

Shonn Greene sucks, so Cobb and his 4.8 points from Thursday was probably the safer bet.

Not feeling very confident in the Fark Fapper League this week as I have to play Vick vs. Balt. and use the Seahawks D vs the cowgirls.

McGahee or Morris?

I am very on the fence about this. I am also unsure about Bowe and/or McCluster.

Any thoughts?

2012-09-16 11:12:57 AM
I'd love to be able to bench Beanie Wells, but I just don't see an option. My bench has Felix Jones, Mendenhall, and McCluster, and there is essentially nobody left to get off waivers. He's certainly capable of some big games. Even last year when he was questionable/probable pretty much all season. Still I'm not getting a good feeling about his production in the near future.

I'm starting Decker over Santonio Holmes even though ESPN has Holmes projected to have 13 points over Decker's 6. Also starting Peyton Manning over Eli Manning, but the projection difference is only two points there. My reason for both (aside from 'going with my gut') is that a good game from Decker means points for Peyton as well, and being that they play on Monday, it adds a little drama to the week.

My lineup:
P. Manning
M. Lynch
B. Wells
J. Nelson
E. Decker
V. Davis
L. Moore
Ravens D
R. Gould

Bench:
E. Manning
C. Palmer
F. Jones
R. Mendenhall
S. Holmes
O. Daniels
D.McCluster

Considering I got the last draft position in the league, I'm fairly happy with my team. I don't have much confidence in a championship but you never know.

Schaub vs. Jax or Stafford vs. SF?

That's my main question, injuries pretty much settle everything else.

I am totally not an NFL fan but my brother bought tickets for us to go watch the Seahawks vs the Cowboys today. This will be my first NFL game in like 8 years. Hope to have a good time and watch the Seahawks win!

Stafford or Sanchez? Tough call....

2012-09-16 11:17:45 AM
Why would Dwyer owners be disappointed this week? Mendenhall is doubtful and Redman sucks a bag of dicks. If you're a Dwyer owner that's not optimistic this week then you need to drop him as from here on out it's not going to get any better .

2012-09-16 11:18:24 AM
This is my first season in FF. Any advice you guys could give me would be awesome.

I'm starting RGIII. I already sat Garcon. I have Santana Moss and Mario Manningham on the bench. Should I sub in Moss for the handcuff or will I get better production from Manningham?

I'm also starting Owen Daniels and I like that matchup against Jacksonville's pass defense, but I also have Dennis Pitta on the bunch. Kind of a toss up for me. Baltimore was nasty last week.

Dafatone: Brent Celek or Jason Witten?

Trent Richardson or Alfred Morris?

Definitely Witten.

And I say Morris. Richardson will do better against The Bengals crap run defense than he did against the Ravens, but I'm guessing not by much- 8 points for Week 2 if he's lucky.

FFL represent! I wouldn't be too concerned about Vick. At least he pretty much has to do better than last week.

WR dilemma here. With Garcon out, I have to decide between Stephen Hill or Darrius Heyward-Bey. Anyone got an idea?

2012-09-16 11:25:51 AM
Wow, just looked again and Vick had more yards than I remembered. The Int's suck but 15 points is not too bad considering. So, I guess I take that back. He could do worse, but I doubt it.
