I love this little tidbit added to baseball history. It's perfect in a non-perfect way.

No, but congrats to Reyes. It's an important (if ignoble) milestone that reminds us of the long and rich history of Major League Baseball. Thousands before you have farked up routine ground outs, and thousands after you likely will as well. All you can do is laugh it off and prepare for the next batter.

I've always used Bill Buckner to remind me of that lesson, but this works, too.

I still remember NY Met Danny Heep being Nolan Ryan's 4000th strike out victim, it seems the Mets collect the lousy milestones.

For some reason, whenever ESPN Classic replays Game 6 of the '86 World Series, the description of the game on the tv menu is something to the effect of: "Danny Heep and the New York Mets take on the Boston Red Sox." This always bugs me.
