Say a lie enough times and it becomes the truth

Scary I know, but perception is reality.

2012-09-15 04:33:09 PM
Maybe it's the same number of people, but the pool has been diluted because of the number of people too ashamed to self-identify as "conservative Republicans."

Don't say "Big Lie", Rebublican Jews get all bent the fark out of shape.

Such a sneaky Muslim too. Killing Bin Laden, decimating Al Qaeda, brewing BEER.

We see right through your obvious trickery...

ManateeGag: Don't say "Big Lie", Rebublican Jews get all bent the fark out of shape.

They should get bent out of shape. They're engaging in the same lies that were leveled against them.

Overall, 17 percent of registered voters say Obama is Muslim while 31 percent say they don't know what religion he is; only 49 percent know the truth, that he is Christian.

where are the numbers for WHO GIVES A FLYING fark?

I'm guessing it's within that 31 percent .... there's "Don't know, don't care" and "Don't know, because I have doubts". That at least narrows it down.

God damn, Republicans. Look at how stupid you are.

2012-09-15 05:49:08 PM
It's disgusting that religion is an issue and lack of religion is even worse of one in a free non-theocratic country. Anyone who cries over the lack of times someone mentions God has no right to bring up freedom of religion or their own persecution.

WRONG. All republicans always believed he's a 'slammer. Why's he so black then?

Meh. If you've seen one Abrahamic religion, you've seen them all

I am going to take a wild guess and say that calling him a muslim is like some sort of codeword for them. They may not actually believe he is a muslim but use that just like a catchall term for everything.

All they care about is how many people are screaming Jesus' name. They don't give a f*ck about actually FOLLOWING him. Its the same group who yell how Amercia Super #1 A+ but never actually DOING anything to make it number one.

Well if he isn't a muslin then why does would he go that mosque where the Reverend Jeremiah Ayers ranted for years about Black power and other marxist theories?

I wouldn't be so sure. The conservative echo chamber can reinforce all kinds of wacky beliefs in people who are predisposed to them.

Twice as many conservatives on the lunatic fringe than four years ago.

It would seem to me the only bulwark against getting pulled into a vortex of extremism is a robust leftism. The current pro-capitalist, generally center-right superparty of the Republicans and Democrats is insufficient to combat the nativist abyss of the hard-right paranoid fringe; and it's worrying that the only real "opposition" to the unified right (which again for the most includes most "liberals" today) is coming from increasingly "not-my-precious-bodily-fluids" extreme right splinter.

I had fleeting hopes that Occupy might be able to articulate a sane response to the entrenched political delirium that has overtaken us so completely; I worry that it is doomed to prematurity and ultimately failure as a movement unless it begins to more clearly articulate a reasoned alternative to the quagmire of hatred our political discourse is steeped in today. But I'm not entirely cynical here -- I do realize that premature efforts which are doomed to failure are necessary in order to make success possible. Of course with global ecological apocalypse looming and all, it would be best not to defer on sanity yet again...

I'm a Democrat, and I don't believe Obama's a Christian.

He's a highly educated, erudite, thoughtful, intelligent man. I'm going to go with "secret atheist," like probably many of our national political leaders (in both parties) have been, but can't admit to in this country.

He only attended for the weekly seminars on where the white wimmins were at.

As an addendum, it shouldn't matter a whit what religion he is. The Founders were quite clear about that "no religious test shall be required for office" thing.

I long for a world where it doesn't matter what religion the President belongs to, if he/she even belongs to one.

/I won't live to see it

2012-09-15 06:05:36 PM
The whole point of Freedom and Democracy in the USA is that it supposedly doesn't MATTER what anybody's farking religion is.

The fact that "Conservatives" are hung up on it is a good measure of how out of touch they are with actual Freedom and Democracy.

2012-09-15 06:06:47 PM
What does it matter? I'd be shocked if Obama lost the election to Romney despite the fact that all Romney should do is hammer Obama with how lousy the economy is. George H W Bush lost his re-election bid even though he had just led a very large war coalition to oust Saddam from Kuwait and the recession he had then was nothing compared to the recession we have just been through.

It's just a fact that Romney is a horrible Presidential candidate. He's the Republican's Mike Dukakis.

I thought Obama explained this when he got back from his Ramadan vacation.

How many responded that they think he is Muslim just to do their part in repeating the lie? I mean, knowing that they are lying, and just want to skew the results?

that number should be 100% of likely voters. then we would be having debates based on facts and there would be a good chance that we could fix this mess we are in. as it is -- well we have folks like you.

I still don't even understand why this is important in the first place. I'd vote for a gay muslim atheist if I thought she'd balance the budget, repeal the patriot act, close gitmo and end the war on drugs. what god(s) someone prays or doesn't pray to isn't the only thing that matters.

I feel like we're living in an insane asylum. And I'm starting to fear for my own sanity. The right is so far off from my perception of the world, it's frightening. Are they really that divorced from reality? Am I?

//seriously.

This is probably true. It's telling that more people would consider atheism to be a voting dealbreaker than being gay. That said, it's pretty obvious that's not what the GOP thinks about him.

So they call him Muslim so they can get away with attacking the fact he's not white without right out and calling him a ni-bong. Though that hasn't stopped them before, either. Got it.

I didn't think it was possible...

Republicans actually got stupider and more gullible

2012-09-15 06:28:04 PM
Conservatives are clearly just saying this shiat in the hopes that it will somehow persuade others. No one but the lunatic fringe actually believes it. That's desperate the conservatives are.

Oh and um, even if he was a Muslim, He has been President for 4 years so explain what he's done so far to promote the Muslim movement. Now if he did something like ignore all the warnings and allow the largest terrorist attack on our soil to occur and then say he didn't care about finding the person who perpetrated it, THAT would convince me that Obama was a Muslim but even a secret Muslim wouldn't commit that kind of atrocity.

2012-09-15 06:29:56 PM
Beliefs about Obama's seekrit Mooslim-ness are kind of seasonal. Conservatards tend to believe it more during elections, and also the Christmas season. Other than that, they tend to take a break from it.

And if the conversation turns to Reverend Wright, Obama is immediately and retroactively a devoted follower in his church. Until he needs to be a seekrit Mooslim again.

Hope and want to believe.
