One could pose the exact same question about the religious groups in the United States, especially Christians.

And it would be a valid question.

The reaction is most likely because a belief is being challenged and it's a belief that doesn't stand up well to any kind of scrutiny, so they feel very, very threatened.

Because religion is intensely personal, and Islam utterly centers around Muhammad. Therefore an attack on Muhammad is basically an attack upon them directly.

Not my own opinion, but it makes more sense than anything else I've heard.

It was funny, I have hundreds of favorites, but only had three ignored users. It showed two comments in the headline, but was empty when I looked, and lo and behold it was the two people I ignored. Well, back on ignore they go, and for good reason, imho.

Same here, but I'm usually more pleasantly surprised than anything else when somebody announces they have me on ignore. Mostly because I've usually already deemed them pointless myself.

Statements about putting people on ignore should be filtered to read " You're not coming to my birthday party!"

Is simply the act of being a fundamentalist Muslim make a person feeble minded and easily angered, it does seem to hold true with fundamentalist Christians. A better explanation could be religion was created to control the masses and the fundamentalist branch of any religion requires a portion of the brain to be switched off or nonfunctioning. If you combine poverty, no alcohol or other relief, and little mixing with the opposite sex why would anger and violence be a surprise outcome. One of the few differences I see with fundamentalist Christians and Muslims is the Life of Brian did not cause any fires or deaths. Looking at white supremacy groups and their members and you will see a group of poor uneducated people screaming I should be considered important simply by virtue of my skin color without any other effort or reason because it was true a long time ago same thing with some Arabs.

Agreed - religious people think they're acting and speakung in the name of their god, though, so they can't and won't compromise. You can't reason with them. If you could, though, they would no longer be religious.

The difference being, though, that Christians don't tend to kill people over offensive religious cartoons posted on the Internet. I know it's an overused meme and all, but it has always baffled me how the Religion of Peace is the one where everybody has to walk on f*cking eggshells to avoid pissing off because PEOPLE DIE if you do.
