Snarcoleptic_Hoosier: ShawnDoc: dickfreckle: I can assure you that post was quickly deleted, and the user banned, for daring to afford FartNambla any respect whatsoever. "Respect the office" was only required when liberals/indies openly questioned Bush's headstrong and ignorant chickenhawk policies.

That whole "its treason/unpatriotic to criticize the president during a time of war" argument disappeared quickly after Nov 2008 as well.

But you don't get it. Obama is BLACK. That changes everything.

Meh, yes and no. Are there still morans in 2012 who actually judge a man unfit because he's blah? Yes. But this is more about hyper-partisan pants-sh*tting than anything. They did it to Clinton, too, but in those days it was all dial-up, Geocities, and the fact that not everyone had 4 grand to spend on a computer. Now that computers and broadband are cheap, it's just instant, petulant bed-wetting whenever a Democrat assumes power, and we just hear more of it these days.

Honestly, I'm a little tired of my fellow Fark libtards always resorting to "we get it, he's black." It's just grown tiresome when the real issue is that Republicans simply can't take a defeat without soiling themselves. Their entire reason for existence is to stonewall a Democrat and even make matters worse just so they can retake the field. Both parties enjoy their own power, but there's no crybaby like GOP crybaby. Also, Democrats don't appear to actively wish ill-will on the nation for political expediency.

Freedom of speech rocks. You don't use it, you lose it.

/should have been obvious as there is no more MSNBC as far as i know
//parodies are free speech

nobody is saying that the freepers can't speak up and be crazy. hey, I think it's AWESOME when they rant out in public about birth certificates, 9/11 conspiracies and socialism. shine on you crazy diamond! But just because you CAN speak doesn't mean people will listen. nor does it mean you won't get laughed at for your efforts. that's what's happening here - people are pointing at the freepers and laughing at the stupid things they say. yeah, it's kinda rude...but fark is like that at times.

All of those scenarios assume Ohio and Florida will go to Romney... not so fast, guys.

And even if Romney takes Florida, Ohio and Virginia, Obama would only need to pickup Iowa (currently leading) and he still wins.

Let's not let our guard down, but Romney's paths to 270 are painfully few.

I farking hate polls, lets go with some reasoning that's not based on heavily flawed projections:

the basis being the fact that Obama won in 08, so:

if everyone who voted Obama in 08 does the same in 12, and everyone who voted McCain in 08 votes Romney in 12....Obama wins again
so the big question is...whats changed since 2008?...well some people have died and (most likely) won't be voting, and the then 14-17 year old crowd has now become eligible to vote

statistically the largest demographic that has died since 08 would be older voters who most likely vote Republican
the newcomers in the 18-21 crowd tend to be much more Democratic leaning

now more on the subjective side of things, I think the odds are much greater that a former McCain voter will switch to 3rd party or vote for Obama than an Obama voter from 08 jumping ship to vote Romney...I'm sure there might be exceptions, but they should be incredibly rare. On top of this I think there's also the fact that Romney is such a turd that some of those who might have voted 3rd party may toss a vote to Obama to essentially vote against Romney (myself personally being in this camp)

so in summary, yes a landslide does seem like a reasonable. Republicans will vehemently deny this, as they live in their Fox News bubble that has been pumping them with good vibes the last 4 yrs. I just hope the butt hurt encountered in November does not reach 1860's proportions

I went around the country this summer. 13k miles. What people don't realize is that most of the US is land without people. Miles upon miles of just land. The little nook you live in does NOT reflect the rest of the country. Along the shore lines there are millions of people. In the middle, not so many. The few hundred people you know don't count as a true sampling of the rest of the country.

When have they been meed, mild, and quiet in the last 20 years? They started sobbing like little kids with a skinned knee from the time Bush 1 went down, and haven't stopped.

Haha... they're trying to base it on the 2010 turnout? That's hilarious... midterm election to predict a presidential election. hahaha... hilarious.

randomjsa: Right, and the predictions of Kos readers/posters were so completely and totally accurate in 2004 but people who predict Romney winning this year are just crazy.

If you're so confident on Romney winning the whole thing, then how about you wager with me. My money is on Barack. Loser buys the winner a year of TotalFark or donates $50 to their favorite charity, winner's choice. This topic can be the reference point and there are plenty of witnesses.

Put your money where your mouth is, or are you a coward?

Tere is not a single trustworthy or likable thing about Romney, his convention bounce was a flop, and he can't go two days without putting his farking foot in his mouth, yet they're certain that he's going to win. The Rigt just can't accept reality anymore, can they? This isn't just a "perspective" thing, Romney is not electable, except on the 'Well, at least he's not a Black Democrat' platform.

Yes and they 100% believe this stuff. Everything on Fox is to be believed.

The funny/sad thing is, if you read a few threads on Freep you'll see their paranoia levels are so ramped up that they don't even trust Fox any more. Most of them are convinced that Roger Ailes is a totally owned tool of the "GOPe."

It's funny I watched Fox for 5 minutes on Wednesday as a joke. It showed a clip of Obama saying "We're not ally's and we're not friends." Then it broke away to a few talking heads and every single one of them said "Why did Obama say we we're allies with Egypt!?" They then spent the next 5 minutes hammering home how wrong it was for Obama to say we're allys with Egypt. I'm sitting with friends watching this and asked them to clarify what I just witnessed.. It's like they showed the clip unmodified and then created an entirely new memory of what was in the clip. Fascinating if it weren't so scary.

Hahaha, 'normalized' with 2010 turnout? Fun stuff. You want to spin things and be believable with it, use a 2004 turnout model. It's still wrong, but it's believable wrong than using a midterm turnout.
