I remember before the 08 elections took place, I read a few Freeper posts.

Some of them were "While I hate Barry HUSSEIN Obama, I respect the Office of the President and will accept it if he wins".

Boy, that went south quickly, didn't it?

Hahaha, 'normalized' with 2010 turnout? Fun stuff. You want to spin things and be believable with it, use a 2004 turnout model. It's still wrong, but it's believable wrong than using a midterm turnout.

nobody is saying that the freepers can't speak up and be crazy. hey, I think it's AWESOME when they rant out in public about birth certificates, 9/11 conspiracies and socialism. shine on you crazy diamond! But just because you CAN speak doesn't mean people will listen. nor does it mean you won't get laughed at for your efforts. that's what's happening here - people are pointing at the freepers and laughing at the stupid things they say. yeah, it's kinda rude...but fark is like that at times.

Nah. There's no money to be made in a Romney presidency. There's a reason why Fox News has donated to the Obama campaign at higher amounts than either the Romney or McCain campaign.

Yes and they 100% believe this stuff. Everything on Fox is to be believed..

It's funny I watched Fox for 5 minutes on Wednesday as a joke. It showed a clip of Obama saying "We're not ally's and we're not friends." Then it broke away to a few talking heads and every single one of them said "Why did Obama say we we're allies with Egypt!?" They then spent the next 5 minutes hammering home how wrong it was for Obama to say we're allys with Egypt. I'm sitting with friends watching this and asked them to clarify what I just witnessed.. It's like they showed the clip unmodified and then created an entirely new memory of what was in the clip. Fascinating if it weren't so scary.

This is what I honestly think happens: When the master control room runs the clip, they just literally shut off their brains. You know those behind-the-scenes shows that depict the control room director running the show? I could see him dialing-down the audio so they don't even hear what Obama says when the clip is running. They're handed a script, in a way. It's probably all up on the prompters, and so they:

"...and here's President Obama reacting to the tragic events in Lybia today..."
Control Room: "Back in 30, bring down the monitor audio..."
Talking Head #1: (watching but not hearing Obama on the monitor) "So, golf this weekend?"
Talking Head #2: "Maybe. My kid has a soccer game. Call me Sunday morning."
Control Room: "Back in 15..."
Talking Head #3: "Hey, did you see the cans on that makeup girl?"
(other Talking Heads nod)
Control Room: "Back in 5...4..3..2.."
Talking Head #1: "So, as you can see, the President CLEARLY indicated that the United States is both a friend AND an ally to a known terrorist regime hostile to US Interests. When will Americans wake up?"

Meh, yes and no. Are there still morans in 2012 who actually judge a man unfit because he's blah? Yes. But this is more about hyper-partisan pants-sh*tting than anything. They did it to Clinton, too, but in those days it was all dial-up, Geocities, and the fact that not everyone had 4 grand to spend on a computer. Now that computers and broadband are cheap, it's just instant, petulant bed-wetting whenever a Democrat assumes power, and we just hear more of it these days.

Honestly, I'm a little tired of my fellow Fark libtards always resorting to "we get it, he's black." It's just grown tiresome when the real issue is that Republicans simply can't take a defeat without soiling themselves. Their entire reason for existence is to stonewall a Democrat and even make matters worse just so they can retake the field. Both parties enjoy their own power, but there's no crybaby like GOP crybaby. Also, Democrats don't appear to actively wish ill-will on the nation for political expediency.

I hear lots of folks in bars or at work who actually buy the media hype that it's close. There are some stats citing that the popular vote may be considered an actual competition, but apparently everyone has forgotten how we actually elect presidents (agree with it or not). Anyone genuinely believing that Romney will pull it off likely sprinkles crack on his Cheerios.

Romney is a compromise candidate among Republicans and it shows. they're falling in to support him because he's what they ended up with. I don't think any Republican really LIKES Romney or his plans...its just that they'd rather vote Romney than put Obama back in for another 4 years.

I remember before the 08 elections took place, I read a few Freeper posts.

Boy, that went south quickly, didn't it?

That thread is worth digging up.

"Respect the office" was only required when liberals/indies openly questioned Bush's headstrong and ignorant chickenhawk policies.

That whole "its treason/unpatriotic to criticize the president during a time of war" argument disappeared quickly after Nov 2008 as well.

But you don't get it. Obama is BLACK. That changes everything.

GhostFish expressed it very well in yesterday′s ‶Kansas may go full Birther′′ thread (which I slightly modified). They don′t hate him because of his skin color / race. They hate him because he′s a:

• Big-government proponent
• Liberal
• Anti-christian
• Communist
• Kenyan-born usurper

In reference to TFM's quote of "Obama can't break 50 in any poll", I did some fact-checking. I know, I know, who "elite" of me, but anyway, here's what I found for Obama:

New York - 62%
Vermont - 62%
Delaware - 62%
Maryland - 58%
California - 56%
Massachusetts - 55%
Rhode Island - 54%
Washington - 53%
Connecticut - 52%
New Jersey - 52%
Maine - 52%
Minnesota - 51%

And don't forget D.C. (which gets 3 electoral votes) where Obama has 92%

So right there, I find 12 states (and D.C.) worth 165 EV's right there where Obama has broken 50%.

Reality is going to be very painful for the Freeper Brigade to accept come November.

I'd like to know what he's smoking if he seriously thinks NY will go to Romney. We wouldn't vote Romney to Dog Catcher here in this state much less President.

Yeah I mean once the Kenyan is unseated, they're going to unplug every illegal socialistic action he did and restore America to another 1950s type era of prosperity.

You'll see.

I'd bet that Glenn Beck used to spray his bags of weed with water so they'd weigh heavier.

Please, dear gods, I want to see Glenn Beck pull a Dwyer.

I seriously think I'd actually cry for the man if he did that.

Lando Lincoln: It reminds me of the 2004 election, but with the sides reversed.

What goes around comes around. Sucks to be you guys. I know how you feel, though.

This is gonna be worse for them since, unlike 2004, there will be no question of who won by the time 11 PM EST hits.

SuperSeriousMan: Reality is going to be very painful for the Freeper Brigade to accept come November.

There'll be some vintage year Neocon tears that'll have to be drunk that time. :)

I farking hate polls, lets go with some reasoning that's not based on heavily flawed projections:

the basis being the fact that Obama won in 08, so:

if everyone who voted Obama in 08 does the same in 12, and everyone who voted McCain in 08 votes Romney in 12....Obama wins again
so the big question is...whats changed since 2008?...well some people have died and (most likely) won't be voting, and the then 14-17 year old crowd has now become eligible to vote

statistically the largest demographic that has died since 08 would be older voters who most likely vote Republican
the newcomers in the 18-21 crowd tend to be much more Democratic leaning

now more on the subjective side of things, I think the odds are much greater that a former McCain voter will switch to 3rd party or vote for Obama than an Obama voter from 08 jumping ship to vote Romney...I'm sure there might be exceptions, but they should be incredibly rare. On top of this I think there's also the fact that Romney is such a turd that some of those who might have voted 3rd party may toss a vote to Obama to essentially vote against Romney (myself personally being in this camp)

so in summary, yes a landslide does seem like a reasonable. Republicans will vehemently deny this, as they live in their Fox News bubble that has been pumping them with good vibes the last 4 yrs. I just hope the butt hurt encountered in November does not reach 1860's proportions

Why do you all sound the same? Like texting morons. Can't get a thought out with using dated cliched words and mispellings. Is the English language not enough? Men like Franklin, Jefferson, even up to Hitchens got their point across without resorting to this.

Altitude5280: Election night will be epic. I'll be going back and forth between Fark, FR and Tea Party Nation.

Not me. No way. I'm going out to a big, big party, like I did in 2008. Enjoy a few beers in the company of like-minded folks and cheer as the state-by-state results come rolling in.

Weaver95: make me some tea: Weaver95: the freepers are going to be very confused when Obama gets reelected.

I'm expecting them to claim that voter fraud is much worse than they thought it was.

i'm sure some will scream voter fraud. I think it more likely that most of them will simply scream. then they'll demand that the GOP dig in it's heels and do their level best to gut, destroy and otherwise harass the Obama administration's efforts to fix the economy and/or otherwise conduct the business of government.

Obama hates the United States. Fact. Get used to it.

All of those scenarios assume Ohio and Florida will go to Romney... not so fast, guys.

And even if Romney takes Florida, Ohio and Virginia, Obama would only need to pickup Iowa (currently leading) and he still wins.

Let's not let our guard down, but Romney's paths to 270 are painfully few.

That's why I think the make up of Congress is more important than who is President.

Notabunny: I think they're going say the same thing they said in '08; "We lost because Romney wasn't conservative enough," followed by an even more extreme lunge to the right and support for even more obstructionism. My guess isn't out of the thin blue. My Teabagger coworkers think Limbaugh, Savage and Beck are ok for public consumption, but a little too liberal to be taken seriously. But yes, if I get a chance to snap a pic of their teary eyed, quivering lipped, slumped shouldered, dejected little selves, I'll be sure to post it.

What concentration camp do you work at where you have coworkers who think Limbaugh Beck and Savage aren't conservative enough? Do you make a living burning rainforests and puppys?
