...who doesn't like Peter Cullen? Next to Don LaFontaine, he should voice over EVERYTHING in life.

Boxingoutsider: Also the voice of KARR in the knight rider series. Best voice actor ever?

One of them, certainly. Of course, everyone knows Mel Blanc and quite a few people know June Foray, but there's a lot of voice actors out there that are just as prolific and iconic as Peter Cullen.

I'd actually give the 'Best' title to Frank Welker, since he has more range; including animals/creatures. But it's a close race.

Here's the contenders so you can make your own call:
Peter Cullen
Frank Welker
Rob Paulsen
Maurice LaMarche
Jim Cummings
June Foray
Mel Blanc

I tweeted the writer and informed him it was corps and not core. He apologizes and fixed it.

RoyFokker'sGhost: He really is one of the greatest voice actors around. And while Prime is his best known and most heroic work, he's also able to play the villain wonderfully.

Also, to blow your mind, here's Megatron's voice actor, Frank Welker, from the old D&D cartoon.

I feel sorry for the kids nowadays. Cartoons just completely suck balls. I grew up with Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, C.O.P.S., Voltron, Tranzor Z......and they have Dora? What the hell happened?

/Wants Optimus Prime to do my outgoing voice message

RoyFokker'sGhost: I'd actually forgotten about the episode where the kids said 'Fark it. We've had enough of this crap. We're killing Venger so we can go home.' And they almost pull it off, too. Really dark for an 80's cartoon.

D&D was a lynchpin of the Saturday morning cartoon experience at the theorellior household. My brother and I also liked Spider Man and his Amazing Friends (I loved the cool sax intro riff), Bugs Bunny, Superfriends, and Thundarr the Barbarian.

Someone posted an interesting link to the head writer of the series, in which he mentions that the whiny Cavalier character was supposed to be whiny and not do what the others wanted to do, so that later he could be coerced into doing the will of the group. There was a television watchdog group that got the networks to include this social engineering into just about every cartoon.

Count me in as one of the latchkey kids influenced by Optimus Prime...and Duke/GI Joe and He-man, and Mask - before them it was Superfriends and Pac Man and all those videogame characters. afterwards Ducktales and those guys. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Tiny Toons, animaniacs were just influential buddies from the 90s.
I only say influenced because everyone's real fathers are Mel Blanc and Tex Avery.

That was scary. Nearly 30 years later, does the voicebox have muscle memory? We used to recite that entire intro *and* The Formation religiously. What isn't so cool is that I'm not remembering everything else. Why wasn't Princess in the first intro, but she was in the formation? When was Princess added and Black kicked out? And weren't there three forms of Voltron (lions, bikes, and planes)?

/all needed in life was Voltron, G-Force and Robotech before school
//.. GI Joe and the Real Ghostbusters after school...
///...classic non-censored Warner Brothers on Saturdays...
///...and Transformers, Inhumanoids, Robotix and Gem on Sundays
