Or Bats, or Nutria, or Raccoons, or Dogs, etc, etc. As I understand it, most mammals are susceptible to the plague, and can potentially transfer it to a human. Remember, plague is usually carried by fleas, and pretty much any creature that flea feeds on could be infected.
