(Daily Mail)   Judge sentences man to years of misery and pain, where he will have little to no sex, constantly regret the decisions he made that brought him to this place, and perhaps even wish he were dead. Oh, and he gave him some prison time, too   (dailymail.co.uk) divider line 26

FTFA: The blushing bride's two children were in attendance at the courthouse.

I have no idea whether the kids belong to the groom. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't.

Yes, that part about little to no sex was a dead giveaway. He'll get lots of sex in PMITA prison.

Considering they were federal charges and not state charges I am thinking the former

The judge just threw any chance of rehabilitation out the window. What incentive is there now to get out of jail?

Marriage should have NOTHING to do with the legal system or government.

Why?

Oh, let me list the reasons.....

1. Gay marriage? OK
2. Want to marry your goat? OK
3. Divorce? OK, and if you're a guy you don't lose half of everything you have
4. Want to marry your cat? OK

I'm out of reasons. Any others?

Not always. When the ATF or FBI gets involved it can be anything from straw purchasing to paperwork snafu's. They also aren't above twisting the truth if they think there's more to gain. Then there are automatic sentencing in some places, where you could get five years if the word "gun" pops up in the police report.
I prefer to see some detail in any story where these issues are involved.

Doubly so in an article where a man marries right before he goes to jail.
The first question anyone's going to ask is "what's he going to jail for?".

No one wants to be married except the Gays.
I don't see why marriage should be legal.

but if gays get married, then we won't have any more "under cover gays"

Considering I see the federal court system in work every day I am going to disagree about someone getting 4 years on a federal charge on something that wasn't serious. Likely he was involved in something else and had a gun on him when picked up.

Hm, there's an idea.

Change out all our sentencing laws so that crimes are now punishable by immediate marriage for the term otherwise to be spent in prison. No divorce or abandonment allowed.

Bet THEN we'd see a drop in crime!

my aunt and her husband sort of did this. he got sent to prison about six months ago because he killed someone in a car accident while driving drunk. i think he got eight years. about a week before he was sent to prison, they got married. i think my aunt agreed to marry him because she felt bad and wanted to give him something to look forward to when he gets out of jail. but even if she truly cares about him and intends to remain faithful, i can't imagine she'll wait that long. i give it a year before she gets lonely and starts dating someone else.
