So cool we're finding weird geological formations that only exist on Mars. Just like when people were first exploring Earth and found new things in new areas.

LoneWolf343: Our first contact with alien life would be through their poop. Who'd have thought?

If you've ever done field biology, it's not that strange a concept. Sometimes the best evidence that a particular animal has been in an area is by finding its scat. There are even fields guides designed to match a piece of scat to the animal it came from.

Granted, we're unlikely to find any life on Mars with a complex enough digestive system to leave behind such easily-identified waste products, but if we ever find a planet with more complex multicellular life...

And it won't be too hard to test as milk is easily obtained at the store just down the street from the giant soundstage that the rover is in. I wonder if they are using the same soundsatge they used for the supposed moon landings.

Mr. Hilton: Oh, we use only the finest baby frogs, dew-picked and flown from Iraq, cleansed in the finest quality spring water, lightly killed, and sealed in a succulent, Swiss, quintuple-smooth, treble-milk chocolate envelope, and lovingly frosted with glucose.

Inspector: That's as may be, but it's still a frog!

Mr. Hilton: What else?

Inspector: Well, don't you even take the bones out?

Mr. Hilton: If we took the bones out, it wouldn't be crunchy, would it?

Since Earth and Mars were pretty much formed in the same manner at the same time, one would think that a geologist could look at that and say oh yeah that's such and such. It's hard to believe that Mars would have something so totally unique that's never been found on earth.

Earth and Mars may have been formed at the same time, but that doesn't mean they have been subject to the same geological pressures. Mars and Earth are different in a number of ways which would lead to differing climate and geology. For example, Mars is much smaller than the Earth. Additionally, it has less atmosphere. It is further away from the Sun, resulting in weaker sunlight.
