A local Chinese take-away may have a special on Peking Duck.

Lawmakers should be required to get a similar permit-- the public find them very irritating.

How would a duck pay for a bowtie? Did he put it on his bill?

Watched that last night. It came on HBO Family, if you can believe it.

But seriously, what a bunch of crap. What is the purpose of shutting this down? To keep more money from going to the children's hospice? Jesus.

I watched that movie for the first time just about a month ago. I'm still trying to come to grips with what I saw.

'Our policy is to allow one charity collection per day per parish, so that the streets aren't full of people collecting for charity, which is irritating to the public.'

Make an exception you dumbf*cks. By the way, when does the presence of charities make you reconsider heading to a place? The city or whoever should not be giving a damn about this unless the presence is reducing traffic, which I doubt. Also, if charities irritate you, learn to ignore simple noises such as bell ringing and be willing to say you have no money, have donated to the cause, or have donated to others today whether or not this is true. Stop being such a f*cking pansy as to be bothered by a question being asked of you; you're one of the reasons everyone sits silently in office waiting rooms for forty-five minutes not making eye contact when you could just meet someone or learn something new.

Isn't it great? Super 80's'd out Lea Thompson, Jeffery Jones, and a young Tim Robbins in Cleveland saving the Earth with a hip duck from Marshington, DC?

Mm, 80's Lea Thompson.

It's great only because of Lea. Otherwise, it's absolutely terrible. But as a document of all things 80's, it never fails.

I give her credit for sticking with that whole movie, though. How do you read a script with a scene that basically implies you farked a duck and not call your agent demanding to be airlifted out of there?

I bet they have issues with the bird 'cause he's an Indian Runner Duck. Would they be picking on a Khaki Campbell, eh? How about a Magpie Duck? It's time to play the discrimination card!

What an ugly duck! Can I pet it?

If I saw them, I'd probably give them money just for being original enough to bring along a real live bowtie duck mascot. Unusually accessorized pets are almost a sure thing when it comes to donation inspiration.

As for the once-a-month thing, I could understand locals not wanting to be harassed on a daily basis for donations, but I'm sure there are better ways to handle that than issuing permits. I'm generally satisfied with "don't be a jerk" policies.

Indeed. But only if the "permit" actually requires them to accomplish something on that one day. At least they'd be working 12 days a year instead of only on the day before vacation or some impending crisis.

I have two Swedish Blue ducks. Never thought about putting a bowtie on them though. But they sure are adorable anyway.
