At this point it seems like a little prayer you all make every time someone goes all terrorist in america. "Oh please let it be a republican christian, please oh please oh please" as if you get your jollies off on the few times said groups do act a fool. But when its a muslim, the first thing you do is go "now they are not all like that" or "I am sure it is not religious motivated"

Only idiots state that muslim terrorists aren't religiously motivated. And only idiots state that christian terrorists aren't religiously motivated.

If it's a federal building, abortion clinic, or mosque in the Midwest being targeted, it's usually a white guy.

If it's an embassy, suicide bombing, or some high concept attack against American landmarks, it's usually a brown guy.

Man, looks like the war on terror is really starting to heat up. They ought to know better than to mess with Obama though. He will get them in the end, just like he did to Osama.

AndreMA: Paris1127: Kansas City Star's reporting that he yelled something to the effect of "Why am I on the terrorist watch list?"

I would think that the car trunk where the dog smelled explosive traces may have something to do with that...

/also, it's a state office building, not federal

The dogs are excessively sensitive. I've had dogs alert on my carry-on luggage resulting in a hand search, and I'm pretty sure it was because it was in the trunk of my car, where I'd previously carried some small solid rocket motors (both BP and APCP). It being Kansas, many of the vehicles have probably carried recently fired guns in their trunks.

It's Missouri, not Kansas. And Kansas City is a fairly good sized city, it's not a bunch of farmers. I lived there for a long time, and didn't know many people with guns. It's not the Old West or even the roaring 20's there anymore.

timujin: atomicmask: SO when stuff like this happens, someone is a terrorist...its not this you think of

Yes, because only one of those pictures was actually taken in this country. When I think of terrorists in the Middle East or North Africa, I think of the people in those other pictures.

Mmm alright, so people stating they have intent to harm is not reason to believe they are responsible when harm is done...what about statistics?

Number of deaths resulting from islamic terrorism in the united states alone.. 3,094

Number of deaths resulting from tea party terrorist acts in the united states... 1...maybe..if you reach.

so again, how are you so quick to assume its a republican or right wing conservative when the numbers do not even agree with you?

H31N0US: modesto: the media has succeeded in blowing things majorly out of proportion

This will not die down before November. I have to wonder who is behind such a pointless film that would so obviously have such incendiary consequences.

I suspect you are right. What I actually had in mind is this-

I live like 2 blocks from Tahrir square. As is typical during clashes, the violence is extremely confined, and for the vast majority of Egyptians, life is normal. This country has 90,000,000 people. Of them, there are maybe 300 walking around tahrir waving islamiist flags and burning ours. Then you have the unemployed angry kids who will fight with the police at any opportunity. The VAST MAJORITY of egyptian muslims could not care less about this, and many are ashamed.

In the international media, that is all passed over, because the MOSLEM THREAT!!!! is much easier to spend 12 hours of studio time on that the complex economic and political reality. And I have to explain to worried relatives that they are being fooled. And it's annoying.

Probably the wrong thread for this. Long, frustrating day.

According to KMBC, he walked in and said "I'm on the terrorist watchlist, and you need to check out my car." The police have since confirmed the first part of the statement, so they are following through on the second.

Marine1: Mikey1969: The_Knarf: so he walked in and announced "hey i'm a terrorist!!" and...what? is he still in there? did he moon them and leave? WTF is going on?

According to a story I found online, he walked in and demanded to know why he was on the Watch List, which they have confirmed. For whatever reason they then decided to search his car, which the dog indicated on, and that's all the details I have.

Honest question: how accurate can a dog be in searching the trunk of a vehicle for explosive agents, considering that right beneath the aforementioned trunk is a container filled with around 14 gallons of explosive agent?

I've watched some police dogs demonstrations, and they have hit on cars, even with all of the other smells, including the gasoline, but as others have noted, they have false hits all the time, too. Hell, he could have brought some fertilizer from Home Depot in the last few weeks even... Who knows?

Sounds more like someone REALLY frustrated about being on a "watch list" that implies he's a terrorist (or at least believes he's on such a list) unfairly, and perhaps he's clumsily trying to make a "fine, waste your time checking my car and see if it's full of explosives if you think I'm a terrorist. And then take me off the dang list" sort of point.

Maybe.

Could just be trolling for attention, too.

Serious question here.

Are the Egyptian people who are disgusted by this behavior willing to rat out the people who are willing to scale embassy walls and murder people?

/does not give two shiats about flag burning and yelling. Just real violence.
