Ryan, the House GOP's budget guru and most prominent policy thinker, had missed all 19 House votes since he was chosen as Mitt Romney's running mate last month. On Thursday, he came back to vote on a series of routine bills, which reunited him with his biggest admirers - House conservatives.

Budget Guru? I'm still waiting to find out who his powerfully placed gay lover is.

Ryan is unlikely to come back anytime soon. And even his colleagues think that's a good idea.

"I'm glad he's coming by to say hi to everybody before the vote. My message to him is, 'Get out of here! Get outof here!'" said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah). "We don't need you here. We need you in Iowa or Florida or something!"

Or the Caymans. That's a better place, I think.

I wish any time that I wanted to get a new job, my co-workers told me to go get out there and look for my new job -- while I still collected my full salary and benefits from my current job.

I think FL is pretty solid. Maybe it's time to stretch a little, pick off a blood-red state just to rub some noses in it. I'm not talking Utah here, maybe start with.... Alabama? Mississippi?

Um no. He had to give up running for re-election because it would have made his attempt as VP seem 'insincere,' the root of which, of course, being 'sin'

Ryan and his fellow Republican colleagues didn't make out on the House floor, so obviously they are ashamed to be seen with him. Great reporting.

One thing that annoys me, what qualifications does he have that makes him a Guru?

I mean, my kid draws a lot of pictures but she sure isn't a Rembrandt.

I don't understand why they would treat him differently. It's not like he's going to actually be vice president. He's just taking even more time off than usual to pretend Mitt has a chance.

FTA: Ryan, the House GOP's budget guru and most prominent policy thinker

Take a moment and reflect that Paul Ryan is the Republican idea of a policy wonk.

2012-09-14 07:05:29 PM
But, in the risk-averse environment of a campaign, there were also good reasons for Ryan and his colleagues to avoid one another.

A close association with Ryan could make trouble for some members in tight reelection campaigns. The cornerstone of Ryan's budget proposals, a plan to restructure Medicare for future recipients, is widely unpopular. And a close association with congressional Republicans might not be helpful for Ryan, either. In one late August poll, two-thirds of respondents disapproved of their job performance.

I love that, "Ok, what we're gonna do is: Add 10 trillion in new debt, obliterate every social safety net, make contracts one way streets by which large enterprises assert their dominion over smaller ones, poison the air, land and water, then we wait for the magic of 2% unemployment forever, and Jesus showering us with gold to save us! It can't miss!!" makes someone a "budget guru."

To be honest, from the look of some polls, Obama could probably pick off Missouri with a couple of speeches and a factory presser.

I'd like to see a well funded candidate challenge him there by running to his RIGHT. Make him play "more conservative than thou..." to keep those votes, then use his congressional election materials to reveal his true nature to the national audience.

It really doesn't matter how much his hypocrisy is exposed, or how bad he gets his shiat wrecked in a debate, or how obvious it is he's outclassed by a much more capable candidate. Waukesha will NEVER support anyone to the left of Walker/Ryan. Bush is a commie for all they care. I hate to just repost things, but this was from another Ryan thread before work today. I wish it weren't true.

Don't Troll Me Bro!: thenewmisus: ......
I attended a seminar about inverter architectures for wind farm applications that had some engineers from Waukesha County. The seminar was in Madison, on the UW campus, hosted by WEMPEC. Even the engineers from Waukesha were full-on teabagger derpers.

These people were talking about alternative energy as a liberal farce and deriding "elitist professors." WTF? Their jobs were based around alternative energies, and they were paying good money to have EE professors, who are very specialized in power electronics and power systems, one might even call them "elite," teach them how to do their job better. They also were on the "if it can't turn a profit, then the government should keep out of it" mentality. Nearly every significant technology of the last 70 years needed government assistance to reach economic viability in the private sector. The time it would take to see a ROI for anyone pioneering the effort would have been too long to bother if the government didn't help by subsidizing. And these idiots' jobs depended on government subsidization of wind development. WTF?

It's terrifying how easy it is to manipulate so many people to actively lobby against their own interests.

I read an article, in WSJ I think, about how GOP congressmen stood in long lines to pose in photos with Ryan. Cantor had to stand in line with everyone else.

If it were a just world, Cantor would be standing in line at the unemployment agency.
