I wish we'd go back to the days when there were no attacks towards US diplomatic missions during those strong republican presidential years of the president-who-cannot-be-named. I mean, a strong GOP president projected 'resolve' and 'strength' and no embassies or such as were attacked. I mean, if 0bama would just lead for real, like a real leader.. you know, from in front. Not the leading from behind stuff that is totally evident. I mean "leading from behind" is totally a real thing and is as obvious to a real American as an apple pie made with commie apples. You know, those apples grown by those hippie socialists in socialististan somewhere in either Massachusettes or Seattle or wherever those stinkin' liberals live.

All we need is resolve and love for America. Who doesn't love America? Libs, that's who! And that is why muslims are attacking us! Damned libs. Oh, and taxbongo too!

Sybarite: You have to understand that in some parts of the world "Death to America" is sort of like "Aloha."

"Hey Ahmed, Death to America."

"Oh hey, buddy; Death to America to you to. Long time, no see."

***

"Now you kids drive safe and make sure you're in by ten. Have fun and Death to America."

"Okay mom, we will."

"What, are you too old to give your mother a Death to America before you leave?"

One of the funniest things I've ever read on this site.

I might. Depends who else is running.

tony41454: I'm even surprised Hilliary was there:

In an exclusive interview, Fox News military analyst Colonel David Hunt laid the blame for the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans at the Benghazi, Libya American mission on Hillary Clinton and the State Department:

The State Department just allowed our guys to get killed. If you approve no bullets in guns for the mission security guards and an outhouse for a mission, you're inviting it.

Earlier, on Howie Carr's radio show Thursday, Colonel Hunt said that the American mission at Benghazi "was like a cardboard building, there wasn't even bullet proof glass." In addition, Hunt said the security guards inside the mission didn't have bullets:

Howie Carr: They weren't allowed to have bullets, is that correct?
Colonel Hunt: That's true. They were private security. The rules of engagement were ridiculous.

Hunt told News that the new State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya, approved and signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton since the 2011 fall of Khadafi's regime, severely compromised the safety and security of murdered Ambassador Stevens and all American diplomatic staff in Libya.

He also stated that the decision not to staff Benghazi with Marines was made by Secretary of State Clinton when she attached her signature to the State Department Rules of Engagement for Libya document. News has subsequently learned that under those rules of engagement, Secretary Clinton prohibited Marines from providing security at any American diplomatic installation in Libya.

If that's accurate it's simply appalling. If you're not going to let them defend themselves then get them the hell outta there.

Are you unable to read? Someone responded to comments made by Colonel Hunt about no ammunition in the Benghazi mission with a memo from the USMC that stated that the MCSEG in CAIRO was armed, as if that memo somehow disproved Colonel Hunt's assertion about the security forces (who are not Marines) in BENGHAZI.

Quick run down:

Colonel Hunt: "The [in no way shape or form members of the United States Marine Corps) security forces in Benghazi, Libya were not armed with live ammunition."
GhostFish: "The USMC said that the Marines in Cairo, Egypt were armed. Are you calling the Marines liars?"
The rest of us, except apparently you: "LOLWUT?"

As for your assertion that "they didn't even claim that for Libya..." I must once again ask if you are able to read and comprehend the English language. There is a Fox News Analyst stating this about Libya. He makes no mention of Egypt.

I was truly incredulous when I read the response. In addition to having wildly different spellings, the two cities are in entirely different countries.

Evil High Priest: TFerWannaBe: chuckufarlie: these rioters are a bunch of under educated people living in the 17th century, if that. They are mad at the people who made the film but they cannot reach them so they lash out at anything associated with the USA because that is where the film was made.

People in this part of the world tend to lash out in a cowardly manner at whatever is in reach and that is more than likely not able to defend themselves. The embassies fit all of that.

The people who killed the ambassador are more than likely a different group taking advantage of the situation.

There's a few interesting posts upthread about the control of information to the people in these countries. Since their governments have such tight control over the press, they assume that other countries are the same way. It doesn't occur to them that the film could be made without an official government seal of approval.

I don't know if that's correct, but it feels right. Take a group of people who have no idea what free speech is, introduce them to a film made in a country whose government they've been taught is evil and hates them . . . it makes perfect sense for them to take out their anger on our country's representatives.

We can't let them get away with murdering our people but (if the above is correct) this is going to continue to go on for as long we have free speech and they don't.

The control of the press does not mean that they are incapable of learning, anything. They may have a throttled internet, but if there is interest in a subject, the information is available.

As I said in the other fun thread, perhaps their wise and holy men should be enlightening these people about the ways of the current world..

(Sorry for the late response)
Yes, that's true - it does not mean they are incapable of learning or finding opposing viewpoints. However, if that theory is correct they are going to view any new information with an extremely biased eye. And yes, their "wise" and "holy" men should be enlightening them, not encouraging the hate.

Post Arab Spring changes have not come about and people are frustrated in those countries. This amateur movie may have been the catalyst but it's not why most people are there. A reporter on the ground in Egypt walked around and asked people about the protest. Of those that even heard of the movie, none had seen it and most didn't even know what it was about just that it was bad.

I realize these are facts, and these facts are, in fact, inconvenient, so I fully expect them to be ignored by those who willfully want to ignore anything that might deviate from the outrage fest that the right is perpetually experiencing.

If we rebuild that embassy I wouldn't set foot in it unless it was surrounding by a solid ring of CIWS with huge ammo reserves. Because otherwise their just going to RPG the shiat out of it and kill more of our citizens. Again. Leaving your government officials in a place they aren't wanted in a highly visible location without heavy weapons and fixed fortifications is pretty much the same as throwing clay pigeons into the air at the local gun club. They hate us and want us dead so why continue to irritate them for no reason. Screw wasting huge amounts of money and blood playing Team America World Police for people who don't want it. Leave them to their own devices and move on to other less angry parts of the world.

Frankly, I hate discussions about what people "deserve". The truth is - we all end up dead - so I guess we all "deserve" to die.
Fate is what it is - this guy may have been a fool to tempt fate - but that's HIS business. It does not put me in the position of a judge who is empowered to proclaim what he "deserves" - it's a philosophically repellent proposition.
