Someone break out the sound-bite shears! I found too much context in this one!

OK, cut it right after "U.S."

That's not what the derpers in the Al Jazeera FB threads were telling me, but okay then.

Watching the speeches at the hangar at Andrews AFB, I find Hillary Clinton 199 times more presidential. I suppose that isn't difficult by comparison.

Many Muslims living in the Middle East, Asia and Africa don't understand that America has freedom of the press and freedom of speech and that, UNLIKE in their countries, the American government does not control or approve films like this anti-Muslim film.

So when an anti-Muslim film gets made, they blame America.

It's also being portrayed to them as if this film is some big blockbuster movie that's being shown to audiences all around the world. I'm pretty sure that if they'd actually bothered to watch the damn thing, they'd be laughing at how comically cheesy it is just like I was.

You have to understand that in some parts of the world "Death to America" is sort of like "Aloha."

"Hey Ahmed, Death to America."

"Oh hey, buddy; Death to America to you to. Long time, no see."

***

"Now you kids drive safe and make sure you're in by ten. Have fun and Death to America."

"Okay mom, we will."

"What, are you too old to give your mother a Death to America before you leave?"

Do you remember all the riots and destruction of embassies on American soil when Valley of the Wolves came out?! Oh good times. I still have one of the jackets I looted off the bodies! It's a nice coat!

Have you seen any of the 'blockbusters' that come out of Bollywood? I am sure Muslims have seen a lot of those than American films, and Bollywood films are usually not up to the production standards that Hollywood follows. So it is probably difficult for them to just look at a small part of the film and see the differences.

Only muslims are allowed to make derogatory films bashing other religions.

I recommend Rider Without a Horse, Saturday Hunter and the Syrian masterpiece Ash-Shatat.

Movies and TV-series officially broadcasted on arab countries' national TV of course, not some student film on YouTube.

"Death to XYZ" is a very common Arabic protest phrase in the Middle East. They often say it too domestically to whatever they are protesting locally. It's a figurative way of saying "Down With XYZ" at an American protest. It doesn't translate well. Of course, its still a protest and that should be noted. But protests are (or should be) free speech anyway and not automatically make you crap your pants.

Of all the apologetic crap I've heard about violent arab protests, this one is now my favorite.
Tell me, if during one of said protests the americans (or any infidels) weren't barricaded inside a well fortified building and stepped outside, what would happen to them ?

I'm sure it is, but you're an inveterate hardcore apartheid-style racist to begin with (that's why I have your username in deep red) who has never cared for facts about the Arabic language, Palestinians or associated cultures, so I don't particularly care to pander to your ignorance.

St_Francis_P: He should never have made that movie. Thanks, Obama!

You're actually hitting on the one piece of the puzzle no one's talking about. In all these authoritarian or formerly authoritarian (and in fact pretty much all continental Asian) countries films can only be made with official government permits, monitoring and censoring. So people can and do rightly make the assumption that films carry some sort of government stamp everywhere. That's why Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom wasn't filmed in India--Lucas and Spielberg tried but the government found the script racist and incendiary and refused to allow production. They are as ignorant of American media culture as Americans are of theirs, and so they assume that Obama gave this a seal of approval to be made and shown.

Why is it hard for you to admit that the americans will be torn to pieces by the protesters ?

The movie has been out for a while. It's a real coincidence that the riots waited until near 9/11, and that some of the protesters were saying "we're Osama".

More than anything, it's a protest against not having a job or ever having had any pussy. When you have a society like that, it doesn't matter what anybody thinks they "believe".
You gonna have trouble.
