(PC Gamer)   After years in development, Half Life: Black Mesa is finally released, proving that it takes less time for a bunch of random guys programming in their spare time to make a HL game than Valve to release another HL episode   (pcgamer.com) divider line 133

Naturally, all of my damned professors decide to give exams the week after the game is released.

Listen up, jackoffs: this game was here WAYYYYYYY before you. You'll wait your turn, and you'll like it.

First Sleeping Dogs, Now this. I'm never going to see anybody for the next 2 months. Yay!?

I have too many unplayed games that are going to have to wait a little longer.

+1 for OpFor

A friend told me that the development time made this the "Duke Nukem Forever" of Half-Life 2 mods. As such, I will be avoiding it, as it will be a total disappointment.

/Would much prefer a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. of Half-Life 2 mods.
//Or even a The Nameless Mod of Half-Life 2 mods.

The dev time was 8 years. I can't wait. Figures I break a finger 2 days before this release :-/

I half wish I could be home downloading it right now, but I understand the servers are creaking under the weight of all the fans trying to get it. I guess I can wait until after work...

So now you'll have to type with one hand, just like everybody else on the internet.

Okay, so I got three days to play this before Borderlands 2 comes out. That should be enough time, right?

In my opinion the only HL mod I've spent more time on other than CS was The Specialists

Lord help my free time if they made this into Source.

I loved HL2 but I've never had the chance to play Half Life (oh the joys of Mac gaming) so I'm pretty stoked about this.

I'm anxious to get the backstory to the HL universe and to get it with modern day graphics is even better.

Alright, that torrent link was insanely slow. I ended up grabbing it from a private tracker. Took about 6 minutes!

thecpt: Oh BTW on the same site.

Fan made films have been getting pretty good lately. Recent ones I can think of are the Mortal Kombat Legacy trailer (the one before the webseries), which was more of a pitch to get a show going, but was excellent, Thomas Jane's self-made Punisher tribute is in my top 5 of all time, and yea the 'Beyond Black Mesa' crew does a really good job too, considering they did it with just $1200 over 2 years.

2012-09-14 04:45:51 PM
Any word on a timeframe for the Steam Greenlight process? I know that Black Mesa is passed, and I think it is safe to assume that it will be a few weeks for lawyers to iron things out.

I'd love to just bring it down via Steam, but that will have to wait, I guess...

How about the Team Fortress 2 of Half Life 2 mods? Or even the Half Life 2 of Half Life 2 mods? (yo dawg, I heard you like Half Life 2...) People forget how long those two were delayed, especially the first.

I didn't see it available on Steam (as of 40 minutes or so ago).
All the other sites are being pounded - found a German mirror (chip.de) that is at least trickling it down as of now.

LasersHurt: thisiszombocom: Oh and how is dod source?

Dropped paratroopers(and the para map mechanics until a few later maps that bring back those bombing type stuff), dropped the British team entirely, removed weapons(the obvious para ones gone, no grease gun, G43)normalized weapons(MP44 and BAR are the same weapon minus magazine size, for instance), no beach map, fewer maps overall(though really the original v1.0 retail release had already removed most of my favorite maps. Goodbye Koln and Cherbourg...).

They need to make TFC source. That would be amazing, even if it was just the stock maps.

Link to German server at Chip Online.

About 35 minutes for me.
