Raging Whore Moans: WTF Indeed: Jose Canseco needs to be congratulated for outing the steroid problem in baseball. Then he needs to be banned from every professional baseball sports venue in the country.

I don't totally understand it all. Is it just because "nobody likes a snitch" or is it because he made money off of it from his book, Juiced?

Was he generally a dick even before breaking the steroid scandal to the public?

Both. He's always been kind of a dick from what I've heard in the past. The snitching goes beyond just the fact that he revealed the steroid abuse. According to Canseco himself he's the main reason everybody started doing steroids to begin with. He even called himself the Godfather of Steroids. So that would be akin to me getting you hooked on crack and then calling the cops because you had crack.

McGwire had done that himself.

Yeah, b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b--b-b-bbbbbbut I thought the official narrative was the Big Mac and Sosa SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVVED baseball?

You know. because that pretty damn compelling 1995 world series, with Atlanta winning I believe their first WS and Cleveland once again getting its heart broken, the 1996 world series (the first in the latest incarnation of the Yankee dynasty, with that charismatic rookie SS, the infamous Jeffrey farking Maier incident, and 1997's extra innings, 7 game world series), those were bogus because MLB hadn't been "saved".

In the eyes of the general public, Ripken breaking Gehrig's record is what started to warm people back up to baseball. The home run races in 97 and 98 made baseball much more popular with casual fans and non-fans. It did things that were seemingly great for baseball. People were either naive or ignorant about what was really happening, and now it's recognized as an era that was wrong and was bad for baseball as a whole. But it DID make baseball more popular and more profitable at the time.

Fark Canseco.
McGwire, was, and is, a class act, unlike Jose.

He walked away from a guaranteed contract.
He did not lie before Congress.
He was forthright regarding his involvement with PEDs.

HoF worthy? Not now.
10 years down the road, compared to his contemporaries? Maybe.

/Take a look at what they're currently wearing:
McGwire: MLB uniform.
Canseco: Shiatty T-shirt.

No, I'd go ahead and put McGwire/Sosa AND Cal Ripken Jr ahead of any of the things you mentioned.

Did Jose inject Mark with steriods while he was asleep? Pretty sure McGwire played a part in his own demise.
