Jose Canseco needs to be congratulated for outing the steroid problem in baseball. Then he needs to be banned from every professional baseball sports venue in the country.

"Which led to his unofficial black-balling from the game, his poor showing in Hall of Fame voting despite 583 career homers, and ultimately, his public acknowledgement he used steroids. So yeah, you could say Canseco messed things up a bit for McGwire."

McGwire had done that himself.

Did Jose inject Mark with steriods while he was asleep? Pretty sure McGwire played a part in his own demise.

Huh. Looks like Snorgtees are moving away from hot models.

Yeah, b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b--b-b-bbbbbbut I thought the official narrative was the Big Mac and Sosa SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVVED baseball?

You know. because that pretty damn compelling 1995 world series, with Atlanta winning I believe their first WS and Cleveland once again getting its heart broken, the 1996 world series (the first in the latest incarnation of the Yankee dynasty, with that charismatic rookie SS, the infamous Jeffrey farking Maier incident, and 1997's extra innings, 7 game world series), those were bogus because MLB hadn't been "saved".

Are we sure it wasn't his twin brother?

No, I'd go ahead and put McGwire/Sosa AND Cal Ripken Jr ahead of any of the things you mentioned.

In the eyes of the general public, Ripken breaking Gehrig's record is what started to warm people back up to baseball. The home run races in 97 and 98 made baseball much more popular with casual fans and non-fans. It did things that were seemingly great for baseball. People were either naive or ignorant about what was really happening, and now it's recognized as an era that was wrong and was bad for baseball as a whole. But it DID make baseball more popular and more profitable at the time.

MLB, will you please take up a collection between the players and owners, to get Canseco out of our lives? All that money you're throwing around, you can come up with $20 or $30 mil to buy a nice beachfront bungalow in Hawaii, with enough left over to keep him in fruity drinks and grilled steaks for the next 30 years or so.

i agree Big Mac and Sosa was bigger, but the notion of them "saving" baseball is horseshiat. Peopl act like nothing happened between 1994 and 1998. they didn't save dick. baseball was still here and what's more, those were awesome series.

WTF Indeed: Jose Canseco needs to be congratulated for outing the steroid problem in baseball. Then he needs to be banned from every professional baseball sports venue in the country.

I don't totally understand it all. Is it just because "nobody likes a snitch" or is it because he made money off of it from his book, Juiced?

Was he generally a dick even before breaking the steroid scandal to the public?

If anyone seen the documentary on baseball - it came about in the 1850s...... I don't think baseball was dying - they didn't save jack crap. It lost some interest since the 1950s, but that doesn't mean it died completely.

From the way I see the attendance list since the 1950, baseball is doing JUST fine.

Fark Canseco.
McGwire, was, and is, a class act, unlike Jose.

He walked away from a guaranteed contract.
He did not lie before Congress.
He was forthright regarding his involvement with PEDs.

HoF worthy? Not now.
10 years down the road, compared to his contemporaries? Maybe.

/Take a look at what they're currently wearing:
McGwire: MLB uniform.
Canseco: Shiatty T-shirt.

I'm lost. Why would Canseco apologize to McGwire? They're both farking annoying cheaters who act all high and mighty. Granted, still better than Sosa and Bonds, who haven't admitted to cheating yet.

Back in 2003 or 2004,I received my work order for a flooring installation job,
and the work order said McGwire on it.This was when he was under scrutiny
about the 'roids.(My timetable at the top may be wrong) But the first thing I thought
of was Mark McGwire. The house was in Orange County,California.I get there and
I walk up the stairscase, and the staircase wall is loaded with pictures of Mark and
his brother. I was at his Pops house.I said You know that guy? He said yeah..
He was proud of his boys.

/I think Mr McGwire actually referred to Mark's brother as 'thats Mark's brother'

//No I didn't bring up the steroids..I'm a perfessional.

///sorry about the long story bro.

Unless they didnt cheat, you mean, right?

Sosa is a cub. Cubs dont cheat. At least if they do, they apparently arent very good at it.

Both. He's always been kind of a dick from what I've heard in the past. The snitching goes beyond just the fact that he revealed the steroid abuse. According to Canseco himself he's the main reason everybody started doing steroids to begin with. He even called himself the Godfather of Steroids. So that would be akin to me getting you hooked on crack and then calling the cops because you had crack.
