Lunchlady: Not to shiat on everyone's parade, but the only source they have for that quote is the woman who he supposedly said it to and it's in her best interest to paint Romney in the worst light possible.

Not that I don't think that isn't how he really feels but excuse me while I pick up these grains of salt.

Like I said, it's in an editorial piece so an unverified accusatory quote is fair game.

I don't think a whole lot of Fark Nuanced Centrists seem to recognize the quote as such or to grasp the distinction between a regular news article and an editorial. Understandable if you're on a steady diet of like-minded news sources.

And as for a politician's empathy? Most of it is public performance. Schmoozing. Sucking up. The minute the heartwarming photo-op with the cancer survivor and his grandma ends and the politician is done with putting on his best thoughtful-and-pensive face for the cameras, he gets back into his car with his flunkies and says "Shiat, I thought the old bat would NEVER shut up. Hey, did you see the ass on the lieutenant governor's new press secretary?"

High elected officials did not get to their positions by being nice.

Supes: This just goes along with my ongoing sense of Romney as a person. He's not a "bad" human being, but he lacks the capacity to empathize.

This makes him a good businessman but kind of a dick to other people.

WRONG!

HotWingConspiracy: As a staunch marriage equality supporter, I have no problem with that response. It's every bit as dickish as a parent demanding that someone else tell them how to deal with their own kids.

You can actually apply Louis CK's pro-gay marriage rant here:

Ok, fair enough Mittens.

"Ok, honey listen up. "Republicans", "conservatives" and Teabaggers are nothing but bigots that could care less about equality. They want nothing but a white America and preferably a Christian White America and as long as they got theirs, then fark you and everyone else. They only watch the biggest propaganda channel in the country and are dumb enough to believe it too. Oh yeah, they like to promote violence against anyone who doesn't agree with them too so be careful."

Wow, that was a sad piece of derp.

First, we have a woman recalling a years-old meeting in amazing detail.

And she asks the old "what shall I tell my child?"

He was far more polite than she deserved. Rightfully he should have said "Tell your daughter you made a mistake deciding to become a parent if your parenting skills are so pathetic you need to turn to a politician for advice how to talk to her."

We get it. Romney has not been the best friend of the gay community. But he's hardly been its greatest enemy.

Oh yeah he's definitely the gay one. I once calculated the propability that at least one of his sons is gay, given that 10% of the population is gay and the probability of being gay increases for each additionaly son. The probability that at least one is gay is >99%.

Not even close. Even if there was a 20% probability that each child was gay (independently random, of course), there'd be only a ~2/3 chance of at least one of the five being gay.

The Drake Equation needs a minor twink and then can be renamed the Romney-Gay Son Equation

yeah, but the point is that each one is not independently random. The more sons you have, the more the likelihood each individual son has of being gay. for example (not the real numbers)- son 1 would have a chance of being gay of 10% independently. 2 = 15% 3=20% 4=25% 5=30% etc. you'd have to take that into account

How many of these have we seen from this man during just the past 14 days?

Profile of the Sociopath:
1)Glibness and Superficial Charm
2) Manipulative and Conning
3) They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.
4) Grandiose Sense of Self
5) Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."
6) Pathological Lying
7) Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.
8) Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
9) A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
10) Shallow Emotions
11) When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.
12) Incapacity for Love
13) Need for Stimulation
14) Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.
15) Callousness/Lack of Empathy
16) Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.
17) Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
18) Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.
19) Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
20) Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.
21) Irresponsibility/Unreliability
22) Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.
23) Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
24) Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.
25) Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
26) Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.
27) Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
28) Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

Other Related Qualities:

Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them
Authoritarian
Secretive
Paranoid
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired
Conventional appearance
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim's life
Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim
Incapable of real human attachment to another
Unable to feel remorse or guilt
Extreme narcissism and grandiose
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world

(The above traits are based on the psychopathy checklists of H. Cleckley and R. Hare.)

Armisten is quarter Asian (neverminding the latin part, which can go either way depending on how the flavor of the moment works ethnicity wise - see also jessica alba and christina aguilera's 'we were white before we were latin' hollywood moments). Asians don't adopt a one-drop rule as a matter of internal pride, why, now?

Other than that... who's to say Romney really wants the position? being that it's a step down from godhood. In what way is he trying to parlay the presidency into more personal wealth for himself?
I saw the video with the gay vet. At no point in that video did I ever get the feeling Rmoney believed *anything* he told that man.

Because of that, that response as relayed by that chick could just be someone tired of being presented with 7/11 people in an army of kitchen servants world. As for it being possibly fake, like the lesbian attack this summer, we'll need to see how Rmoney's camp responds to this, either confirming, denying or clarifying.

Gay people shouldn't assume straight people know the ins and outs of their culture. As a rule, human biology *IS* Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, or or Lilith and Eve. If a lesbian woman has a baby, where's the male component? It's not at all the same as a fertile straight couple conceiving. There are issues of test tube babying it in a lab versus doing it yourself at home (the infamous turkey baster); there are also the issues of whether a 'family friend' did the knocking up, or if an ex-husband/boyfriend (from when one of the lesbians identified as straight) contributed, or whether the donor was unknown. Each of those three situations present very unique family experience situations for lesbians which are not going to be present for fertile straights.

Now, if the argument is 'it's nobody's business, so don't ask how the kid was conceived and carried to term', well then, that's the argument which should be made. But straights are going to be confused, and they should be forgiven their confusion, not dumped on. You know what I mean?

She wasn't looking for advice. She was looking for a political stance. If you are pro-gay marriage or pro-gay civil unions, you will answer one way. If you are anti-gay marriage or anti-gay civil unions, you will answer another. 'I don't care' should never enter the conversation, because of how personal it is. She wasn't looking for how he felt personally. She was looking for how he was going to govern politically.

And this, of course, is if it actually happened. If the same type of conversation happened but the hearsay was directed towards Obama... you know what I mean?

I'm inclined to believe it because Rmoney has shown a proclivity towards making missteps like that towards us plebes. He doesn't have Clinton's gift for empathy. But, again, we'll see what his camp says.
