Cue the threatening Friday the Thirteenth music, because this could only mean a few things for the Sox (although I'm glad to have Schilling):
-Nomar is/will be gone
-Martinez will be gone (which I'm mixed about; yah he did blow that last game in the playoff, and is a primadonna, but still a better pitcher than most)
-Ramirez is gone (thanks for the memories ...)

Yet we still don't have a coach yet. Please don't let the coach be someone with a below .500 winning percentage...

The Sox wish they could dump Manny. More likely they'll have to dump Nomar next year. But I doubt that even. The upside of this for Yankee fans is this should tie the Sox's hands when they try to strengthen their bullpen.

Most likely if this is being rumored as "almost there", then Francona is pretty much a lock for the manager spot.

I don't really mind losing the $24 of beans known as Casey Fossum, but I hope Theo ends up moving Money Ramierz and his contract if he decides to rent Schilling for a year so we can at least get the pitching staff back in order.

We're close to getting Foulke also :)

Just assuming, since the Sox had put Manny on irrevocable waivers, I would assume if Schilling does come to the Sox, they would try very hard to deal Ramirez somehow, mabe eat the majority of his contract. But then all of this is just speculum, you see.

The guy is still my favorite athlete, not for what he's done on the field, but for his work with the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Society. My aunt died of ALS fourteen years ago, and I cheer every step closer we get to finding a cure.

Sexson for Schilling is not a good trade. Sexson hits dingers, fer sure, but plays a mediocre 1B and whiff A LOT. THe D-Backs must figure they can't sign Schilling longer and/or need to dump payroll.

That aside, Sexson is the consummate team player; I liked him with the Indians.

He left Philly only becuase of the management's "lack of commitment" to winning. Not because he hated the city or the fans. Now that the Phillies have shown a determined effort to improve the product, he wants to come back.
