I'd be happy if her commercials weren't on tv and radio four thousand times a day.

where's that video of her barking like a dog for $100?

"For years WWE has produced programming that is rated PG in primetime, and most recently rated G on Saturday mornings. To better reflect our current family-friendly brand of entertainment, WWE is removing some dated and edgier footage from digital platforms. Some of this footage has been misused in political environments without any context or explanation as to when it was produced. This damages the corporate reputation of our company. WWE is well within its rights to protect its intellectual property for fair use."

Which sounds completely reasonable. Sorry not outraged.

It's worse now, since they're all shot in HD. I really don't need to see her or her supporters in such detail.

What's weird is that despite of this, the next WWE video game is focusing on nostalgia over the Attitude era that they are trying to scrub clean. Of course they're blurring out Stone Cold's digital middle fingers for that, it just seems like a mixed message.

Using stuff from WWE television in political attacks is stupid. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons not to vote for Linda McMahon, but what was produced by her company for television entertainment isn't one of them.

It'd be the same thing as airing footage of Arnold killing hundreds of people in movies throughout his career. Or airing footage of Reagan belting Angie Dickinson for no reason in 'The Killers.'

It's all make-believe and doesn't represent the true character of the person behind the scenes.

2012-09-14 11:28:24 AM
Maybe someday, a smart former WWE'r working on another circuit called, let's say, Ompact Wrassling, will have the cleverness to re-name a finishing move Blue Menthol, all the while making some snide inside joke in a promo along the lines of, "because you will NEVER be able to beat Blue Menthol."

/or maybe not.
/or maybe a writer will do it.
/or maybe it's a dumb idea.

I hear her ridiculous drawl on the radio at work. I've had the good fortune not to see her TV ads (please, watching TV on the TV is so 5 years ago).

She'll keep inundating us with millions of dollars in advertising and she'll still lose, just like she lost to Blumenthal. Even though Blumenthal lied about going to Nam and Chris Murphy played hooky.

I'm pretty sure that while smarks belong to all ideologies, dumb adult marks usually don't happen to be particularly liberal. They're probably apolitical, being too dumb to figure out what's going on nationally. Smarks... not to say that they're all blessed with intelligence and critical thinking skills, but they have a bit more intellectual bent to them and don't just accept that thrown in front of them.

Of course, I just wrote these two paragraphs before this in response to an idiotic tro.

Idiotic troll, damnit.

Linda's just a god awful retail politician, and anyone who is paying attention to her ads or has heard her speak knows it. It isn't about partisan ideology. It's about being a competent communicator and policy.

Dear Linda;

You should know better, we here in CT don't have such short memories. And while a diabetic, blind basset hound with nasal drainage issues would be better than another Lieberman, we must draw the line at a money sucking, lying bint who treats her workers like shiat, and doesn't have the interests of the state in mind, but instead only their own wallet/pocketbook, and the accounts of their Fairfield County NYC suburb friends.

Ah, Linda McMahon. If she had the chance to run Connecticut (or the country) like she ran her business, we'd all be independent contractors, most of us would be just barely scraping by, and we would have a hard time finding health insurance.

Also, she would cut our bonus money for the biggest workday of the year in order to increase the profit line for stockholders.

So yeah, there's that.

Linda is a champion of communicating. She can unite people from all sides of the political spectrum. for example a vegan with anger issues and a hardcore libertarian with an inexplicable obsession with torturing Pete Rose.

For the record, "up in the polls" means she's within the margin of error(about 3% according to Quinnipiac), and really they're pushing not _that_ number, but the "favorability" numbers, ie: less people _hate_ her(38% compared to over 45% last month).

And really, this happened against Blumenthol for a breif period, as well; since she had much more money to sling shiat at the walls till it stuck. Didn't help her then, probably won't help her now.

Also, since i've entered this thread(and before my coffee is even finished), there has been 14 McMahon ads on TV(NBC30 and WFSB).

This is why you didn't have a chance, last time. We get sick of this shiat very very quickly around here, and don't much care to have pols pushing themselves on us.

In our house we call her Linda McSpam. Her ads are everywhere, newscasts, baseball games, internet side ads. I remember last election, our mailbox was filled with postcards every.farken.day. I have no idea how this person can be up in the polls when it doesn't seem like anyone in Connecticut even likes her never mind willing to vote for her. And, what the fark kind of accent does she have anyway?

Before I leave, I want to point out(again)that this same thing happened with Blumenthol/McMahon. There was a point that, in the "polls", they were neck and neck. She got demolished at the actual polls.

Quinnapiac even has her within the margin of error, and while up from "everyone would rather scrape dogshiat off their shoes than vote for her", it's a fairly useless number in CT, and polls like that haven't been very indicative of how the state actually votes in a very long time.

I don't think I've seen a single one of her ads that wasn't immediately followed by one of Murphy's. Granted, most of my commercial television exposure is MSNBC, but it's uncanny how consistent the one-two pattern is.

We got a call the other day from the McMahon campaign. I answered the phone and they asked for my wife by name. I handed her the phone and within about 2 seconds she started off with "Are you farking kidding me?!? If Linda McMahon were the last candidate on the planet I wouldn't vote for her!" and went on from there for a minute before hanging up on the caller. It was priceless.

So am I to assume we won't be reliving Katie Vick storyline in WWE 13?

Or the time she allowed her own daughter to be on screen as a cult's sacrifice victim?

Or when a wrestler attacked another wrestler with a gun (Pillman/Austin)?

Or when they invoked the spectre of apartheid by bringing in a group called the Truth Commission?

Or the dozens of times they've made fun of rural peoples with characters like Hillbilly Jim and the Godwinns?

Or when a successful black athlete left her employ and when he needed a job, she made him return as Saba Simba, African Warrior, with full on spear and wicker shield?

Or the dozens if not hundreds of times she's has women strip each other down to their underwear on TV, so much so it became a mode in WWE video games?

Or when she wasted over 100 thousand dollars just to get one man to come back for one match (Jarrett), and in that match, had him lose to a woman in an event called a "Good Housekeeping" match?

Or when she had people representing Hillary and Obama fight it out in the ring, while she was running for office?

Or had a referee repeatedly try to kill himself and each time comically fail, mocking anyone who's ever had depression issues?

Or had a bunch of Latino wrestlers enter riding green lawnmowers marked "Juan Deere" (ok, that was clever, but it's still insulting)?

Or having a wrestler pretend his father was dead, then had another wrestler crash the funeral and drag the casket away (Show/Bossman '01)?

Or when one of your wrestlers died via your lack of caring, you then exploited both his widow and his memory for over a year? (This is the thing that got me to stop watching WWE, personally.)

I was talking with a friend the other day that knows her personally. He's kind of a big dollar financial guy and also a pretty reasonable Republican. He pretty much said that he likes her on a personal level, but she's a walking empty suit, and as much as he'd like to see the GOP pick up the seat in the Senate, there was no way he could vote for her.
