They must have gone with the contractor with the lowest bid.

It reminds me of a department store logo. Macy's, or (pre-2012) JCPenney, perhaps.

They just delivered the USA Today here at the condo and I thought there must be some full page advert covering the usual front page, then I looked again and was like oh. They needed to simple that one up too. It's funny, ten years ago logos were the exact opposite, everything got shinier and more noisy.

The vendor who redesigned the logo received payment thru PayPal.

So why is that? Just a trend, or easier recognition on smartphones?

Good question! I wonder if smartphones have something to do with it. Hard to be busy in a 1/2in-by-1/2in space

But in the case of a familiar business like eBay, you don't actually read the logo. You perceive the color blends out of a corner of your eye and your brain fills in "eBay," or more likely, "Website where I get (THING I LIKE)."

If Google were Apple they'd be suing the sh*t out of ebay because colors.

Off Topic but

The first time I received neutral feed back for selling a brand new item delivered on time was the last time I sold anything on eBay. (4 years ago)

I just looked at the tiny little eBay icon on my smartphone, which is like 1/4" X 1/4" but yeah, it's easily recognizable as eBay even at that size. You got me.

So they're going Helvetica apparently. I suppose that works. Doesn't really spark any excitement, though, which is why I'm more or less apathetic about it.

Corporate retards always got to be jiggering with the business, endlessly restlessly searching searching rooting for that last thin dime they can wring out of us.

What's wrong with ebay? I get lots of old video games off there for dirt, and every now and then I sell one, never really had much of an issue. Never tried to make it a career or anything of course.

If it's USAToady, there's a good chance of there being a full-page ad on the front page.

Old news is so exciting, this is so like yesterday's news.

2012-09-13 After 17 years, ebay decides to go straight

But the moon was not in the proper position in relation to the mars curiosity rover, so mine went red.

Wow. Maybe their next logo innovation can be to go to standard black text!
