Gotta say, this was pretty awesome.

That was pretty cool. Who was the other wrestler in the ring with him?

Shawn Michaels, which makes this video a few years old.

I applaud the use of the word "typical" in the headline.

Awesome gesture. Great find,subby!

Looked like Shawn Michaels.

Never liked the Triple H character... Too stagnant when not in d-gen mode.

This is very nice, though. +1

Speaking as a relative of someone with Down's, this kind of gesture will last for a long time and is so easy to make. Next time you run into someone with this syndrome, remember that just a few words makes their entire week.

I liked him when he was in mini-Vince mode with Stephanie and Chris Jericho was terrorizing them.

I was totally waiting for him to body slam the dude.

I am not a wraslin' fan but that was awesome.

Put me with the rest saying I don't like pro wrestling but this was very cool.

Errk: I was totally waiting for him to body slam the dude.

That would have made this video.

Down's syndrome guy gets to go in the ring, while the actual retarded person had to stay back and continue filming vertically.

The iPhone 5 promises even taller, skinnier, and more annoying videos than ever before.

triple H?

Why are we singling out the one guy? I thought that was the typical wrasslin' fan.

I went to a WWE event maybe 10 years ago and the kid in front of us was mildly autistic. He was so unbelievably excited and had more fun than anyone else in the arena. He kinda made the event for us.

I am not a wrestling fan, so someone will have to explain how this is breaking character and not just doing a thing before the ballet starts.

But this? Awesome.

andrewagill: I am not a wrestling fan, so someone will have to explain how this is breaking character and not just doing a thing before the ballet starts.

Generally speaking, even in this day when almost everyone is 'in' on the joke, pro wrestlers try never
to break character if they are in an arena in front of a crowd, especially during televised shows. Its
part of the theatre of it all.

This must have been a house show, where things are somewhat looser.

But this? Awesome.

I am no fan of Paul Levesque; I feel that he has always been a very selfish and ego-driven performer
who took his cues from other self-serving toads like Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash and has always
made himself look good at all costs and kept down many up-and-coming performers who he
perceived as a threat to him.

That said: this was a truly classy move on his part, and I will give him great credit that he is a decent
human being away from the twisted world of pro wrestling.

I think at the time Triple H was supposed to be a major asshole. I'm not sure though, because usually the assholes don't go around shaking hands with the fans. Either way, this is pretty great.

Thanks for the explanation. No offense to DjangoStonereaver. I already knew they didn't break character, but I didn't know what the character was. I figured it must have been an asshole character if he had to break character to do this, but I was interested in finding the actual answer.

I would assume that Triple H was supposed to be the self-congratulatory type of asshole if he's shaking hands with the fans.

I completely missed that you didn't know the Triple H character, and yes, he is supposed to be an
evil 'heel' asshole: the origin of the character was back when he was in WCW as "Hunter Hearst
Helmsley", a pretty run-of-the-mill spoiled vain rich kid in the vein of Gorgeous George or The
Million Dollar Man. He kept that persona when he first jumped to the WWE/F, but over time the
part about him being a spoiled rich guy has receeded into the background and he began referring
to himself as HHH (Triple H) because he was just too cool, yo.

That was pretty nice. Probably one of the more memorable moments of that guy's life. Though probably the last thing I want to do is hug a bare-chested sweaty/oily guy.

If you'd told me when I woke up this morning that I'd be crying at a stupid goddam wrestling video tonight, I'd have said you were crazy.

But here we are.

Awesome act, clearly an awesome guy who loves his job and doesn't take himself too seriously.

I wish athletes in other sports realized that they were entertainers, not actually saving the world through their heroics.

I dunno. Seems like Triple H *did* kind of save the world, or at least make it slightly awesomer, for that one kid.

2012-09-14 11:16:04 PM
Triple H and Extra Y. Also, the headline would've been better if it were submitted by an actual wrestling fan. How do I know it wasn't? They would've said "broke kayfabe". That was still a really nice thing to do. Things like that can last a lifetime.
