Tiiba: Carbon again? I say we just forget about all the other elements. Carbon is the best at everything.

ChubbyTiger: ProfessorOhki: Really hope it pans out. Would pretty much change everything.

To start, my lab could save $4k a year on liquid helium. :-)

...Or You could use a voice changer to sound like a chipmunk and save all that money now.

Snuffybud: I was told there would be no math.

You were lied to

"There will be no math" is right up there with "The checks in the mail", "I will be leaving my wife", and "I wont cum in your mouth".

I came in here to say that nobody should tell the puppeteers about this, but was pre-empted, which was good, because a room-temperature superconductor thread of over 50 replies without a Ringworld reference should be well-nigh impossible.

More like Carbon is the slut of the periodic table, forming bonds with everyone and everything, with up to four partners at a time?! What a harlot!

Tell me about it. I've even heard some people talk about dating Carbon-14. I don't know...they insist it's just a number, and she's actually really mature and knowledgeable, but it still seems kinda creepy to me.

... and then the Puppeteers plant a virus that destroys the stuff, collapsing civilization on the Ringworld. Louis Wu comes along with about a ton of the stuff, and ...

Vlad_the_Inaner: When do they try it with buckyballs?

Never, because no one calls them buckyballs.

They're Gygaxions.

Room temperature? Then why the 'cool' tag?

Michael Tilson Thomas is a super conductor, and Davies Symphony Hall is rarely above 295K.

I think skinny big nosed gay musical prodigies will be the next big thing in physics.

Physicists will want to see evidence of zero conductivity and the Meissner effect in these particles

To be a superconductor you need to have zero ability to conduct a current?
