yeah, they tried to kick me out for wearing a 10000$ fur coat, no shirt, a few rosaries, and a skirt that was probably made of 50 year old curtains (i'm a guy, and i looked good, dammit). one male friend and 2 female friends were wearing ballgowns that were also probably 50 years old.

talk back to the walmart manager; don't be intimidated by some wage slave who's on the second lowest rung of a huge corporate ladder.

Walmart most certainly does kill businesses. That's a good chunk of what capitalism does - drive out competitors. And if you are a huge international corporation that can operate at a loss long enough to undercut the competition, you do. Whether you like it or not, Walmart does kill business.

Yes, the original Boston Tea Party people asked the East India Tea Co. reps, "Is this all? Please, force us to buy more over-priced monopoly tea. And do tell Parliament to continue to throttle efforts at setting up manufacturers here in the colonies." Walmart is an East India Tea Co. of today. j.lunatic: Debby7813: Time to RTFA. The miscommunication was not that Walmart had forgotten about "9/11". It was that the "manager" that had been contacted about the kids coming to sing had failed to let anyone else at that particular Walmart know. And he wasn't there on Tuesday. AND he is now fired.

///can't believe I'm defending Walmart

////and I agree; WhyTF were they going to Walmart of all places for a tribute? Just strange.

In these parts of America, Walmarts probably are the most common third places.

/ vaguely remembers a professor who would rant about how modern societies build sports arenas the way older societies built cathedrals
// suspects that shopping centers have topped even sports arenas in this regard

But at least everyone used to go to church, it was free, and the church provided most of the social amenities. Modern pro sporting events are overpriced, and the stadiums suck up much of the funding for social amenities.

Since Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of Speech probably end at the Walmart parking lot, their instinct was probably to think that the kids were midgety striking employees. Walmart apologizes for turning away a mob of patriotic schoolchildren who were singing God Bless America on Tuesday because the company sort of forgot what day it was

What do you expect, subby? They import most of their merchandise from other countries. They've sent more than a thousand good-paying IT jobs out of the country, and replaced others in-country with H-1Bs. They pay bribes to officials in other countries to open new stores. Hell, the folks who run Walmart have probably forgotten that they're an American company. Natural mistake on their part...

In the case of Appletarians, it's masochism. How else do you explain the new iPhone, which requires you to buy a $30 adapter to use your old AC adapter. A $30 adapter to use an adapter you also paid for?

By comparison, when they hung Richard Harris up by bone needles inserted through his nipples in "A Man Called Horse," it starts to make sense..

Cause imma goin' to look him up and kill him good with Granpa's musket. it's the only fittin' thang to do.
