Contrabulous Flabtraption: War is coming

I prefer the way Obama handles a war compared to the republican approach. Especially since Romney couldn't even feign greif for the dead Americans. If war is coming, then Obama is the guy I want in charge.

The actual "movie" is called "Innocence of Muslims" (link right there), and it's not a "trailer". It's 7 Youtube video segments of varying length, perhaps they were unaware you can post videos >10min now on YT. I assume that's "the whole thing".

It's of comically bad production values. A mix of primitive "sets" of modern trappings pretending to be "tents" and chroma-keying onto other scenes. Of course, with chroma-keying, you have to keep the camera on upper torso so the floor doesn't show, because it's hard to keep that perspective and scale consistent, right? Well, not these guys. Consequently, they just kinda "float" on the sand where they stand . The stage lighting on them is glaringly inconsistent with the exterior shot for their environment.

I wasn't referring to Romney, I was referring to the filmmakers and the subsequent americans that died as a result from the violence; and the fact Obama didn't say 2 shiats about condemning those actions that resulted in deaths...only trying to appease a people that know only violence. I don't really car what Romney said, he'll take any experience and sling it back at Obama, and they'll just go back and forth. But the cow-towing to people that get apoplectic when you insult them is getting old. The shiat obviously doesn't work.

Otherwise... somebody might get hurt.

Bullshiat. Bullshiat. Bullshiat.

The producer of this film turns out to not exist. The screening that so upset the Muslim world never happened. News organizations have yet to find any Muslim on the street who has seen it, most of those interviewed hadn't even heard of it.

This stinks to high heaven.

We are being used, yet again.

No bet there. This is too concerted to be just a "fark with the US" plot. The question in every situation like this is "who benefits?"

The Republicans. I don't put anything pass the plutocrats who want to maintain rule in this country, setting all this up is not beyond them.

This whole thing is starting to reek of setup. Watching the video I immediately noticed that there were parts that were dubbed over it - enough that I thought I was watching a parody and had the wrong video. The voices obviously don't match the words. Now one of the actresses has come forward and stated that the movie they were hired to do has nothing to do with Muhammed - they were hired to do a film about someone named "Master George" about the Egyptian times.

Also, the guy who hired them claimed to be Egyptian, and the director was speaking Arabic. And we have a producer who refuses to ID the director.

And they release it right before 9/11 when everyone is already all derpy.

Strange game is afoot.

Anyone else have any more dots they can connect?

we're also killing their leaders in the night with seal teams.
these activities are coordinated at a high level through embassys.

it's not difficult to see why they would attach the embassy.

what is unique, is that these people will FIGHT.
they'll fight against the tanks, helocoptors, drones, laser bombs, F-16s, seal teams... whatever!
they'll fight all of these forces with rocks while wearing sandals, to the death.

i find that to be very interesting.
the only reasonable explanation for their behavior, is they do not have any other choice.
it's the only explanation to attack a tank with a rock in sandals.

Wow, Windows ME (we call it Windows KY) compared to Jewish people? Isn't that a hate crime in Europe :-P ??

And yes, I do know that's how it all works. My parochial school was quite liberal.

scubamage: Anyone else have any more dots they can connect?

Could be possible, but not very plausible, as it would require a lot of coordination, but here goes.

[tinfoil hat mode one]

The Republicans, especially those that give favors to Israel and benefit from constant warfare in the Middle East (particularly those pushing the Iran war) pay some schmuck to pull a badly-made movie out of his ass, but, makes enough noise in the right places for people to be outraged. Word gets out of this movie, but precious few see it, and mob mentality sets in, creating the shiatstorm we see today.

What would happen next? No matter what president Obama might say, the Republicans are gonna rub this on his face, claiming he's 'weak' and 'soft on terrorism' and will push and shove this weak-sauce talking point as a way to win the elections. If Romney wins, they'll push the Iran war idea on Americans, claiming that Iranian agents incited the riots.

However, the plan might not work because Romney-bot did his failed attempt of smug in his press conference.

[/tinfoil hat mode]

... Then again, it's not very plausible, because the level of coordination is just too much.

CygnusDarius: From what I understand, Budha actually despised the caste system. But then again I'm just an ill-informed westerner.

Which Buddha? There are many. Anyone can become one with sufficient enlightenment and the right timing I believe. Siddhārtha Gautama is the most famous one.

ilambiquated: Yemen is a rough place and has been on the verge of civil war since the beginning of the Arab Spring. It was a sort-of democracy before that. And before that it was two countries and one conquered the other one.

I would expect the American embassy to be pretty heavily guarded. Hope so.

Also Yemen is a beautiful country with an amazing cultural heritage, and Yemen/Ethiopia is one of the world's oldest centers of civilization. The capital, Sana'a, is one of the world's most beautiful cities.

The US government MUST act to protect our broad national interests across the world- and by that I mean Game of Thrones shooting locations.

Sure, we COULD live with nothing by shiatty indoor soundstage scenes and outdoor CGI for the new seasons. But that's not a world I WANT to live in. For us, for our kids- let's protect our national Game Of Thrones interests overseas!

The Commander in Chief is taking care of the diplomacy thing very nicely. This should calm things down.

So what exactly should we do again?

Since the GOP seems so damn sure to know the answer to every geopolitical conflict in the world. Let's hear it!

The important thing is that we group all the Sand People together. Wouldn't want to be discriminating.

Keep in mind that some of the most-watched programs in the Arab world are cleric talk shows. These shows advocate for this kind of violence, and, just as we have seen in Libya, most of the people oppose these attacks on American diplomatic posts. I REALLY don't think we need to paint this area with a broad brush and start doing stupid shiat.

This does reek of setup. What better thing to do than get unwitting "Christians" involved, making them look even worse, with an obscure youtube video putting down the one religion that is opposed to Christianity, causing unwitting Muslims to go postal. I have to wonder if there isnt a terrorist group sitting back laughing and waiting for the next opportunity to attack another US site under the guise of demonstration.

Too many stupid things falling into place to make a huge conflag. This is being orchestrated.....

Gateway pundit huh?

Sounds legit.

Not really an answer though. How should the US have handled the "Arab Spring"?
