No, if he refused to identify himself to the officer he would have been arrested for the warrants. The officer had probable cause to arrest because he knew the suspect but you still want to be sure. Regardless of what you may read in Fark threads, officers definitely do not want to arrest the wrong person.

Kelly is the name of a failed startup of mine. I am now legally operating under the name of Curtis. Curtis is a successful entity providing job opportunities and paying taxes on both the Federal and state level. I can tell you that there are no outstanding legal issues with Curtis. If you have any dealings with Kelly, please refer all correspondence inquiries to Kelly's Lawyer. I have successfully divulged myself of all Kelly related matters.

Good day to you, Officer.

I never heard of that charge until now, but perps must have been disguising themselves since warrants were invented. Makes sense it would be an arrestable offense.

Right, but if you're the right person, stfu and get a lawyer so you don't get extra charges piled on.

The guy had warrants. Contrary to popular belief among the law-ignorant; attempting to avoid arrest through disguise/misinformation fits the legal definition of "obstruction of justice".

The way it is written here you don't get an obstruction charge but rather an Identity Theft charge in this case:

It shall be unlawful for any person to use identification documents or identifying information of another person, whether that person is dead or alive, or of a false or fictitious person, to avoid summons, arrest, prosecution or to impede a criminal investigation

You always get some interesting reactions when you charge them with Identity Theft when they just made up a name.

A hat and sunglasses constitutes a disguise? As in, what the arresting officer was probably wearing too? Or random people throughout the Sunshine State?

Announcer~ Los Angeles: He walks again by night. Out of the fog and into the smog (cough cough) Relentlessly, ruthlessly, ("I wonder where Ruth is") doggedly (bark bark) toward his weekly meeting with the unknown. At 4th and Drucker he turns left, at Drucker and 4th he turns right, he crosses McArthur Park and walks into a great sandstone building! (oh my nose!) Groping for the door he steps inside (telephones starts ringing) climbs the 13 steps to his office. he walks in, he's ready for mystery, he's ready for excitement, he's ready for anything he's...
