One a day for the rest of the month?

Brewers, 3.0 games back.

2012-09-13 11:09:45 AM
And the Padres are inexplicably only 2 behind the D-bags and just swept the Cardinals. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Still no hope for this season, but this "upward trend" thing is encouraging.

I'm hoping for a 5-way tie. Baseball won't end until thanksgiving...

There's already two today. But, yeah, this is going to be a daily thing.

Looks like adding the 2nd wild card had the desired effect...

Why not just let EVERYONE into the post season?

Because, then it would be called Hockey.

A bit dramatic there.... it is letting more teams have a chance later in the season to still sell tickets saying they are still "in the race".

My guess is even the 2nd WC team to make it will half the time have a better record than one of the division champs.

Dammit, they got me. Over .500 for the first time since April, 3 games back in the WC, series against the Pirates, Astros, and Padres. How can I not be all in on this team right now?

//Don't go all bandwagoner on me either, 2 weeks ago no one thought they had a shot of finishing above .500, now coolstandings.com is giving them a 7% chance to make the playoffs. This may kill me.

Don't look now, but the Padres are on a 17-5 run.

And on another note, why are we playing west-coast teams now? I actually want to *watch* these games damnit!

I admit, I began looking forward to football around the second week of August, now I'm back.

Phils are at Houston people. If they can win first first 3, Sunday this race gets very interesting.

They have to leapfrog so many teams, its just not going to happen.  If someone were 8 games out of their division, in 2nd place... I could see an epic run and a collapse by the 1st place team.  That happens.

But if you're 3 out, but have to jump 3-4 other teams... many of whom play each other... that's near impossible.

This is something people forget when just looking at the number.

Correct. It looks like adding the 2nd wild card is having the desired effect...

I haven't done the math, but it also seems possible (though highly unlikely) that the 2nd NL WC team could finish with a sub-500 record. Or just a handful of games above .500. Ugh.

I love how guys that are overpaid and underperforming for one team remain overpaid and underperforming for another team when traded together.

This season we get two wild card teams.
Next season's schedule has inter-league games "every day" and the Astros will be in the AL.
What's next?

Dodgers shoulda just had their guys 'roid up like the Giants. Dummies.

1. Shut your whore mouth. I am all in and this train is rolling down the track, get on or get flattened, biatch tits.

2. The Brewers play the Pirates 3 games and are only a half game back from them.

3. The Dodgers and the Cards play 4 against each other. A split means 2 losses for each team and no ground gained.

4. The Brewers basically need to sweep the Pirates and have the Dodgers and Cards split or Dodgers take 3 of 4 and they are 2 out with 15 to play.

5. GODDAMITSOMUCH!!! WHY WHY WHY AM I DOING THIS TO MYSELF????!?!?!?!?

///FML

Yep. Brewers need to at the bare minimum take 2 of 3 from the Mets (sweep much more preferred). Also need to sweep or take 2 of 3 from the Pirates and need either the Dodgers/Cardinals to split or go 3-1 Dodgers.

Book it, done. The Bucs gave up weeks ago.

Being a fan of Pittsburgh teams it's hard to work up excitement over 20 losing seasons. I don't need Super Bowls and Stanley Cups every year but competing once in a while would be nice.

Don't feel so bad. Since July 1, the Padres have been one of, it not the best (in terms of record) team in the league.

Yep. These clowns have blown so many opportunities that Pedro Alvarez should change his name to Linda Lovelace.
