I just put $100 down on 30 to 1 odds that the Phillies win the world series. I believe.

First ten posts there are Filthadelphia fans calling Pirate fans obnoxius.

Seriously, by population, Filthadelphia is the most failed sports city in terms of titles only to Atlanta.

Right, the Steelers looked pretty pathetic against the Broncos - we don't have Michael Vick signed for the next seven years to torch the Browns like the Eagles did on Sunday.

steamingpile: Rapmaster2000: And their next seven games are patsies, but they've got two Washington series and one Atlanta series to go. Should be interesting.

Even if they were to win all those games it barely helps them since they still have to catch 3-4 other teams not including the braves.

Not even as complex as it was for the Cardinals to chase down the Braves from behind last year.

Phillies have won 7 Straight.

In their last three games they have picked up exactly three games on everyone in front of them in the race. They are only 1/2 game behind Pittsburgh, two games behind the Dodgers and 3 behind St Louis. All of those teams have lost at least three in a row (Pittsburgh has lost six straight)

You, like myself, probably kept telling yoruself every day from Sept 15 to the end of the season there was no way in hell the Braves would blow it...They did. I don't think they will miss this year but I'm not sure if they are capable as a team to perform any better in September than they have in the last September and a half.

Komplex: Babboonrash: I don't understand how a Philly fan has hope. Just 2 years ago after the Phill's organization pulled Cliff Lee away from the Rangers, I felt without a doubt that this was the premier pitching staff in both leagues. And for many years to come... they have woefully under performed as to their potential. Instead of us talking about them on their way to their 2nd WS appearance, there's hinting that with a little luck, they may squeaze into the playoffs.

Are you Skip Bayless?

The 2010 & 2011 Phillies, finished with the best records in baseball.
They lost in 2010 the most dominating pitching performance in the last 20 years.
Lost in 2011 to a red hot St. Louis Cardinals.
And both of those teams won the WS.

Speaking as a Phillies' Phan, I'm disappointed in the results, but I wouldn't label them chokers, losers or underperforming. They played great, but the other teams were playing out of their mind.

Nope I'm not Skip Bayless, but I sometimes drink too much and type stupid shiat. But it's hard to believe after they signed the lineup of the ages that they did not win 5 titles in a row.

Gunny Highway: Phillies and Dodgers are a combined 82-61 without Shane Victorino on their roster and 63-78 with him in their lineups.

It is clear who is to blame here.

Victorino was a good guy to have in the clubhouse when The team was winning. He was wild and loose and didn't give a shiat what happened. When the team was losing the way it was from May on, he wore out his welcome basically because he was loose and wild and didn't give a shiat (read take coaching and show a little discipline at the plate). Some club may end up paying Shane $10M per year for his "talents" but thank Jesus it won't be the Phillies.

No I knew the braves would blow it the way they were hitting, the problem is unless they sweep both the braves and the nats there is zero chance they will catch anyone, they have no games against anyone they are chasing, hell even the braves would have to play sub .500 ball for the phillies to catch them and even as shiatty as the braves hit that is not a guarantee.

Oh I don't think they can catch the Braves unless they sweep the Braves and the Braves get swept by Washington this weekend, but the Braves hitting has been nearly as bad this september than it was last and if not for three straight shutouts their lead might already be three games less....5 runs in 3 games = 3 Wins? They must have God or the Devil on their side this September.

Must be god since he made Philly lose last night

God reconsidered and gifted the Phillies with 12 runs the second game of the Lastros series.
