I felt like I was watching a Tool video. That would have worked nicely with 46 and 2.

I'm glad humans don't molt.

I'd imagine that after molting would be the best time to eat one. It'd be like a softshell crab.

Happy Hours: I'm glad humans don't molt.

We do! Just not in one piece like spiders, insects, crabs and lobsters.

Spider thread! Spider thread!
This one's bound to inspire dread!
Arthropods have to molt!
(Try to stifle the urge to bolt!)

No... no no no... uh-uh... no farking way... no.

I don't care about the help they do with keeping down the insect population, they all need to DIAF.

Happy Hours: I'm glad humans don't molt.

On the one hand, that looks painful and nasty.
On the other hand, new skin and bones!

Dear subby,

It was my wish to convey to you that I also am familiar with the episode of Red Dwarf which you so cleverly referenced in your headline. My natural inclination, of course, was to do so nonverbally, by posting an image from said episode, preferably of the Kryten-hand-eye-spider itself. Sadly, I must report that my ability to search Google images has proven to be inadequate to the task, and thus, I am reduced to typing this apologetic acknowledgement instead, like some sort of caveman. My abject apologies for taking up valuable seconds of your time reading this when an appropriately chosen image would have conveyed the same message in a fraction of the time.

Sincerely,
Me

It's actually a fascinating watch if you happen to ever get to see one molt in person -- that video (although very cool) doesn't really do the process justice

2012-09-13 07:51:23 AM
It could be just the oxy talking but I think that was pretty darn cool.

So farking cute! Doin' he lil' fancypants spider dance.

I always get worried when my tarantula has to molt. She rolls on her back and I think it must be the end. Then the next day I have the momentary confusion of trying to figure out why I suddenly have two spiders instead of one.

Y'know, I've only ever seen the first frame of that three-frame image before - the second and third frames are even more horrifying. Forget hitting that thing with a shoe - I'd need at least a .22. Imagine trying to hit that thing with a shoe, only to have it jump at you. Feh.
