Lochsteppe: tinfoil-hat maggie: 92myrtle: ...and my Ignore List grew three sizes this day.

Only three? Granted I haven't used ignore for years, I've just been tagging them but I'm really ready to go down the list of everyone I have marked as an idiot, troll, derp or romney bot and put them there.

I feel like I've missed some sort of anthropological opportunity by not categorizing the people on my ignore list. I'm sure somebody somewhere could write a whole dissertation on the rich tapestry of derp woven by our local fartisans.

Oh, that's an interesting idea granted I'm no antropologist but I did readThe Third Chimpanzee

ghare: Someone said lying to non-Mormons is not a sin in their church, is that true or just some crap?

I didn't see an answer to this so I wanted to chime in. I was raised Mormon (still am, but admittedly less devout and more questioning than my parents would like) and can tell you that the church definitely considers all lying a sin. One interesting point is that to be allowed to attend the temple (different from regular church services), church members have to meet with their bishop every two years. One of the questions the bishops are required to ask everyone is "are you honest in all your dealings with your fellow man?" I really wonder how Romney would answer that and how a bishop, who has probably seem him lie on TV, will respond.

My guess would be that Romney doesn't actually think he's lying, just presenting a different point of view or some crap like that.

Mrbogey: The right-wing called this last year when this went down as being the result.

Which right-wing are you talking about? The ones who criticized Obama for not getting involved with Libya or the ones who then criticized him for taking a stand on the matter. Hint: Most of the them were the same people. If we had stayed out then they would have done the same thing and called him weak.

In any event the attackers wanted to drive a wedge between the fledgling government of Libya and the United States. Never mind that the population and the government have denounced these attacks, useful idiots like yourself are playing into their hands. Congratulations.

Glenford: ghare: SlothB77: When President Obama came into his office, he vowed to repair the damage to the U.S. image abroad that was done by the Bush administration.

In April 2009, less than three months into his presidency, he boasted to the Turkish government of having ordered the closure of Guantanamo Bay and prohibited the use of torture. "The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history," he went on, referring to the legacies of slavery, segregation and the treatment of Native Americans.

In June, Obama delivered a speech in Cairo in which he called for "a new beginning" between the U.S. and the Muslim world.

Taken together, such instances became known in conservative circles as the "apology tour." Though fact checkers have pointed out that Obama never literally issued an apology, it's clear that Obama was trying to make a break with the past. Especially in the Middle East, he wanted to send the signal that his approach would be more conciliatory and sensitive to Islamic values than what preceded it.

Yet, on Tuesday, the breach of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Sept. 11 and replacement of the American flag with one resembling the flag of al Qaeda represented an example of the type of anti-American sentiment that Obama's more conciliatory posture was meant to quell. Later, we learned that an American ambassador had been killed in an attack in Libya, along with three other diplomats.

Obama's foreign policy strategy for the past four years has been an absolute failure. But the media spin is this was a Romney foreign policy gaffe.

Facts are media spin these days? Really?

Romney's campaign won't be dictated by facts.

"SCREW THE FACTS! I HAVE MONEY!"

We have a

-- Wall Street weasel and corporate vampire (you can't get any more "1%" than that)

-- A Rabid Randroid who's policies are even too extreme for GW Bush to stomach

And you run them on a platform that promises to take away the basic human right of affordable health care, AND crack down on porn, AND even deeper tax breaks for the filthy rich.

(and these are only the few things that team Romney has allowed us to know so far)

Either Karl Rove is using some sort of secret hyper-brilliant battle strategy that would even make Sun Tzu impressed, or this has GOT to be the most clueless out-of-touch delusional cluster f*ck political implosion in History.

shastacola: What is Mitt Romney going to do about the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt?

There is nothing "to do" about the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt, any more than there is anything "to do" about the AK Party in Turkey Christian parties all across Europe or the (Hindu) Bharatiya Janata Party in India or the Buddhist Jathika Hela Urumaya in Sri Lanka.

They were elected democratically. Democracy has come to North Africa. It is a great thing. Anyone who believes in democracy should be rejoicing. It will be a bumpy road, and it may not work out. We should be encouraging it.

Of all the things the Republicans do, hating on democracy in North Africa has got to be the worst. I mean that.

And thus, this is yet another reason we know whose side the media is on... And why it is called the public relations wing of the DNC. This frantic, desperate, almost screaming attempt to make the story all about Romney instead of Obama.

Incidentally here's another example of "If liberals acted in accordance with what they claim their ideas are"

The correct response to the Muslims who are having little fits right now would be "Fark you. Fark you and your backwards dark age ideas. Fark you and your attempts to silence freedom of speech through violence. Fark you, period."

Not "how DARE you say anything negative about Obama after America issues yet another groveling apology to the Muslim world because they're offended over something trivial".
