I love the constant "Ugh, i don't believe this"... like its just one more damn thing thats going to keep him from watching the football game tonight.

FTFA:Toman has been released from the hospital. No word on what prompted his girlfriend, Crystal Wilson, to shoot him in the leg, then apologize, tell him she loved him, and go out back and shoot herself.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that she was batshiat insane to begin with, and something set her off. Someone doesn't just shoot someone, apologize, then go off themselves. That's some serious underlying mental problems there.

Or, he was an abusive prick who battered her into thinking there was no way out, and no other escape except for snuffing it.

Odd..
I would like to see where this goes.

So bored, like it happened before.
He must have gotten glanced, but wow.

Murdered her with a tape recorded of his girlfriend freaking out?

"god i hope she didn't shoot herself..."
Dispatch: "Do you think she possibly shot her self"
"Well she isn't coming inside."
Dispatch: "In the backyard right"
"son of a biatch, i don't believe this"

What is the talking in the back after she shoots herself?

True, both are good possibilities.
I'll add a third: he's LEO, maybe he shot her outside then shot himself in the leg?

Some people (like me) get unusually calm when they're in stressful situations, as if they haven't even realized the gravity of what just happened. It's a defense mechanism. It actually works against them in a lot of situations; they miss things that someone who was freaking out would notice. IE: The fact that the girlfriend had a gun in her hand when she came and said sorry - it took him about a minute after the gunshot to realize that she may have just shot herself. A normal person would have seen the gun and freaked the hell out about what she was doing with it.

I was in a car accident, but the only thing I was worried about was the small bend in my eyeglass frames. It took my girlfriend driving up and telling me to take pictures, get insurance information, and talk to the cops before I finally started doing anything useful.

That audio made me sad, because of her freaking out and his impatience. That's why it makes me feel like it is this:

Totally calm and not doing anything, I agree. However I completely disagree that freaking out is the right plan. I get quite calm in emergencies but I am 100% on and act quickly. I've found myself in a bunch of emergencies over the years from health crises to witnessing bad car accidents on rural roads to accidental poisonings and I've always been the one who's calm and doing the right things quickly while everyone else was standing there stupidly screaming and freaking out.

That sounds like the reaction I would make if someone I didn't really know or care about shot themselves at a party or the like... or like some dude who's seen far too many shootings or the results thereof to really get that worked up. Or both.

Also, it sounds like he's been shot before.

Yup, that would be me too. Just shut the emotions right down, think for a moment, break it into what's the most important thing, then start with that, move on to the next, then the next and so on until the crisis is done.

/Then you break down into a big ball of heaving emotion.

When I get into seriously stressful situations, I become a farking Vulcan. No emotion. That's how this guy sounds to me. Just very matter of fact.

Of course, later I fall apart.

That's what I didn't understand. He said she had a .38 in her hand, but he didn't own a .38, but he had already taken the bullets out of that gun? Huh?

I think he is saying it wasn't his gun. He took the ammo out of it and he didn't have any .38's so he didn't think any .38 ammo was laying around.

Is it part of the 911 training that the operators act like snippy biatches... or does it just happen after dealing with the irritating jerk-offs that make up 90% of 911 calls?

He was trying to be calm to her, and reasonable, while she was freaking out, it's what you do in a situation like that. If he freaked out as she did, there would be 2 people there you couldn't understand on the phone. Too bad she killed herself. Very sad.

This is not the most competent 911 operator but this guy should know(since he is a cop) the person taking the call isn't the person sending police and paramedics. Hearing him say 'hurry up' is like nails on a chalk board for me. Having taken many thousands of these calls I don't find his calmness unusual or unnerving, in fact we often say the more relaxed a person sounds the worse the situation. For instance, you get parents screaming incomprehensibly because their one year old had a febrile seizure vs. having a guy who was stabbed in the abdomen calmly describe his attackers and the direction they left in only to die before help arrives.
