Well, I have never had my tonsils removed, but I did have hypospadia surgery when I was young. There was no ice cream, but the nurses really did pay an inordinate amount of attention to my cock.

Granted, it was years ago but I seem to remember wanting soup. Warm broth felt much more soothing to my ten-year old throat than freezing cold, hard ice cream.

Had Mine taken out at 27 after an incident involving a blast of "burned" refrigerants in the face (look it up, burning R22 forms aldehydes or something, which are really not pleasant around mucous membranes) I'm a stereotypical plumber, a large man. I lost 40 pounds in the following month and a year later havent put it back on yet. you just can't eat a damn thing for a good month.

StrikitRich: The reason kids put weight on after getting their tonsils and adenoids out is that they're no longer chronically sick afterwards. I had mine out at 5 but still had a bit of baby fat on me, but my brother had his out at 15 and put on about 10 pounds or so immediately afterwards, and he was a cross country runner, too.

I'm 25 and I got mine out today, actually. Even farking popsicles hurt. This hydrocodone/acetaminophen mixture is only barely taking the edge off.

Oh well, on the bright side, maybe I'll finally lose some of my beer gut.

I was around 9 or 10 when my grandpa introduced me to the concept of comedy with Wonderfulness. There's just something special about the kind of comedy that can have both a 10 year old and a 58 year old laughing like loons. And the replay value is amazing. I've probably listened to his albums a dozen times each and I could cue one up right now and be entertained. One sentence can usually trigger a full recall of a skit. Ain't no chicken heart gonna get me! Heck, one word does it for some. Riiiiight! Eggs!

Excising the tonsils is stupid with a capital S. Tonsils are a huge part of the Lymphatic System and Immune System.

But good for about $6,000 - $9,000 a pop these days. Easy money.

My daughter goes in this monday is under 6 and built like a Racing Snake. part of the reason she is so thin is due to the constant throat infections. frankly I'd be happy if she gained some weight but I doubt she'd ever be clinically obese because of this.

Count me as another that had his tonsils and adenoids out at around age 5 (no ice cream...Jell-O), and I also went from normal weight to overweight after. I still remember waking up in the recovery room, being really, *really* thirsty and asking for some water. Then being pissed because they only gave me a really small cup of it.

Happened to the neighbor kid. Skinny kid. Got his tonsils out around 5 1/2 or 6 years old, had to start buying "husky" sizes.

Take care of yourself, get lots of sleep, and let others take care of you, too. If the meds don't work, ask for something stronger. I went from codeine to Darvocet; instant relief. This will be two weeks of the worst sore throat you've ever had, and then you'll be okay. Take care!
