One of those is going to miss Jupiter and hit us

NASA's Amy Simon Miller, though, cautioned that, "at this point, we can only confirm based on the fact that there were two independent reports." Official observations will have to wait.

What's the other alternative, NASA wonks? That it was a UFO?

Well, I do have a great anus.

Yes, it was a botched invasion attempt by the bloodthirsty hordes of the flesh-empire of Kthilia. Queen Blastra Kal'dhurr, of the House of the Flayed Ones has stated that "once again, the clever monkeys are safe due to the gas giant", but she has reiterated that "her army of Blood-Boiling, Crimson Scarabs will descend upon our world, and reap the sweet harvest that is our eyes and blood, and a throne of weeping men and women shall be made for her to sit upon the ruined corpse-planet that shall be Earth".

That must have been a really gigantic explosion if it's visible on Jupiter!

Maybe aliens were fighting and released some kind of super bomb.

So there's still a place for amateur astronomers.
Cool.
Also cool that Jupiter took another for the team.

What's worse than an asteroid exploding on Jupiter?

Hemorrhoids exploding on Uranus

"Amateur astronomer Dan Peterson, in Racine, Wisconsin, watched the Jupiter impact live while peering through a 12-inch telescope"

I read this wrong

We'd be completely farked if it wasn't for Jupiter, but there's still some hunk of ice or rock out there with our name on it, cruising silently through the void.

Huh? Of course there is, and there always will be. There are only so many resources pros can use, and space is vast.

Also cool that Jupiter took another for the team.

Aye.

Fry: "Hey, as long as you don't make me smell Uranus." *laughs*
Leela: "I don't get it."
Professor: "I'm sorry, Fry, but astronomers renamed Uranus in 2620 to end that stupid joke once and for all."
Fry: "Oh. What's it called now?"
Professor: "Urectum. Here, let me locate it for you."

I seem to be having tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle.
