DemoKnite: Britons were banned from attending many international matches at that time and there was the similar Ibrox disaster before that.

For all those poor souls lost at the Ibrox disaster.

i'm a Celtic man through and through but this was life and death. This was a horror and a tragedy far greater than any rivalry. It is, in truth, rather sad that it takes something like this to remind all of us in Scottish football that we are a family. A very dysfunctional one, but family nonetheless.

Rwa2play:

Langston: Hell of a statement by David Cameron.

This; considering this happened during the reign of one of his predecessors (when Thatcher, as leader of the Tories, was PM).

Considering Liverpool is Labour through and through it took a Tory government to get the truth out of this after twelve years of Labour. That is farked up.

Everything above is 100% correct.

Foxxinnia: I'm not really clear on just how "independent" this panel is exactly. This Phil Scranton guy is from Liverpool. So is Peter Sissions. You got the Bishop of Liverpool even. Katy Jones produced a documentary on the disaster. And then there's this lawyer who specializes in pursuing police abuse and neglect cases. It seems he might be a bit biased to finding the police culpable. So that's five people on a panel of nine who would seem to be less than independent in this matter.

This argument really doesn't hold water. This isn't a "Loose Change" scenario, this is the government's own paperwork admitting there was a cover-up in place by the police, and deciding to do fark-all about it.

When the PM comes out the same day as the findings and says "Yeah, your government cocked up here," you can pretty much take solace that bias had no effect on the findings.
