If it's not a slam dunk, then don't draw attention to a story in a realm which your opponent has a double digit lead over you.

Bad idea.

September 12, 2001: In the wake of yesterday's devastating attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Romney issued a statement condemning the Clinton Administration for not doing more to prevent the tragedy. Smirking, President Romney called Democrats "soft on terror" after reading a statement calling for national solidarity in the face of this crisis.

Buggered a foreign policy issue is more like it. This is almost like that time McCain channeled Hoover in 2008.

Presumed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney came out Wednesday against the planned burning of the Quran by a Florida pastor, saying that doing so would endanger American troops.

"Burning the Quran is wrong on every level," the former Massachusetts governor said in a statement to POLITICO. "It puts troops in danger, and it violates a founding principle of our republic."

This is not an apology: "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions,"

Mitt's a smart fellow - its not like the ambassadors are really lost, he'll just have the LDS say some prayers and do the baptism for the dead and they will be saved. You won't get that sort of commitment from Fartbongo.

Wow, this guy is really bad at this.

Runs a campaign saying virtually nothing and then when he does open his mouth he promptly inserts his foot.

The fact that he thought he could actually score cheap political points before bodies were even in the ground shows a remarkable lack of political instincts and/or common farking sense.

/Not to mention simple respect for the dead.

Mitt is obviously not ready for Primetime.

Probably never will be.

Yeah, he utterly farked up there. Making political hay out of a dead American was bad enough, smiling because you think you won? And what's more, making a political attack on September 11th, after promising not to do so and breaking that promise with two hours left in the day? I don't think it's a new low, but it's down there.

If you're wondering why Rmoney seems so desperate, Gallup just released a poll giving Obama a 7 point lead. Rmoney is dropping shiatloads of money into ads now and it's not helping. The scales are close to tipping irreversibly toward a landslide defeat for the GOP ticket.

Romney should have said "We welcome Chris Stevens to the Mormon faith", would have went over better...

Not only that, but Mitt's entire attack is a farking lie to begin with. When the shiat started hitting the fan over there, someone at the embassy Tweeted something resembling an apology for the tone of the film. That person was hoping to not farking die. THEN there was an attack.

So Rmoney is accusing Obama of an apology that HE DIDN'T MAKE, over an attack that HADN'T HAPPENED YET.

THIS

And just so we're clear, since negative attack ads were suspended by both campaigns on 9/11, the Romney camp issued their statement at 12:01 last night. It's disgustingly political, and yes both slides have started slinging the mud but we shouldn't forget which side egregiously politicized this issue.

2012-09-12 05:31:08 PM
Romney's domestic policy is tax cuts for the wealthy, and his foreign policy is to insult our allies and exploit the deaths of Americans to further inspire hatred.

Is that about right? Did I miss anything?

2012-09-12 05:34:57 PM
So while Obama weighs his next soundbite, how many more attacks will we have to endure. Anybody that thinks he is doing a good job that is good for US should vote on Wednesday November 7th.

2012-09-12 05:36:30 PM
Heather Hurlburt, who heads the National Security Network, a Democratic group, said the statement "shows not just poor judgment and a willingness to use tragedy for political gains, regardless of the security consequences - but also poor management. He has policy people on his team who know better. Clearly they weren't consulted."

"As someone who worked at state and with diplomats for many years, it makes me feel sick," she said.

He doesn't listen to anyone. Why should his foreign policy team be any different?

Unless they're acting out of desperation as much as their candidate, and picked a truly stupid time, place, event, and situation to chime in. As if he had any standing on foreign policy to begin with.

Typical chickeshiat chickenhawk. Like those neocon dimwits he's made his foreign policy advisers. If you loved Iraq, vote for Romney. We'll have that disaster across the Middle East and beyond.

Obama can 'weigh his next soundbite' while directing attack drones to the area?

Mitt Romney is a businessman, subby. He doesn't have time to be dealing with unimportant distractions like foreign policy. He's running for CEO President of the United States... The only thing that the rest of the world is good for is providing cheap labor and factory locations with poor or nonexistent environmental and/or safety regulations. This other stuff -- the diplomacy and foreign relations crap -- he'll just delegate to whichever former Bush administration wonk wants the job.
