Yeah, I was going to bring that up. They make a point to make that clear so it doesn't look like shagging her is what broke the loop. That would be creepy.

Well, in that particular movie she tended to dress kinda frumpy; like a Sunday school teacher or something.

I read that the underlying concept is that he'd live in the town for 10 years worth of time and establish himself as a life long resident. That's 3,650 days in total.

Yep, same problem I had with her in Four Weddings and a Funeral. She's attractive enough, but she's pretty bland and generally lacking in charisma.

If they think the relationship in the movie version of 'The Time Travelers Wife' was creepy, they should take a gander at the book. Older Henry has sex with younger Henry, along with his courting of a six year old girl. Also the author of that book wrote another book which had some creepy relationships in it as well.

I never liked that scene; it's as if Decker is thinking "well it's not like she's actually alive, now is it?" right before he assaults her. Then, when he is told she doesn't have an expiration date, I wonder if he regrets that earlier decision, which might explain why he runs off with her.

And to add another dynamic to that, when Ridley Scott ruins it by telling everyone Decker is in fact a replicant one would then think, do replicants get the urge to rape? I guess they do.

I was really disappointed that he came out and announced that Decker was a replicant. If you made a movie (adapted or not) and 20+ years later people are still asking questions, why would you ruin the conversation? Makes no sense.

I don't care what Scott says, everything about that movie works better if Deckard is not a replicant. And the quasi-rape thing never even occurred to me. I thought he was just being the kind of forceful alpha male that were common in the old noir detective stories the film emulates. But it seems like another example of him being "less human" than the replicants he's hunting.

When I was a kid I thought the idea of him being a replicant was a cool Twilight Zone-style twist but it ruins most of the themes of the film if he is.

Some of you are missing the "unintentionally" portion about the Cracked list. Jean Reno and 14 year old Natalie Portman was meant to be creepy. They wrote Groundhog Day to be cute, it just happens to be creepy if you think about it.

The only reasons I can come up with are a) he was trying to "teach" her passion, or b) it was just another example of his lack of humanity (whether because he was a replicant himself, or due to him being burnt out).

I don't think Leon was meant to be creepy. I don't even think it was unintentially creepy. It's not like they had a romance or anything. Maybe because Gary Oldman makes any movie somewhat creepy but other than that, I didn't see it.

If Replicants are supposed to have unchecked emotions that they don't know how to respond to because of a lack of experience, then it follows that their courtship dynamics could be as whacked out at they are in that scene.

Deckard and Rachel's "love" scene is the worst offender, but the scene where Roy and Pris start going at it in J.F.'s apartment is also sort of jarring. The usual interpretation is that Roy does it to intimidate and distress J.F. but if we're going with "replicants don't have impulse control and they just start face-farking whenever they feel tingly"...it fits.

Of course, Deckard and Rachel are supposed to be more realistic fake-humans because of their false memories. So while Roy and Pris can be excused of their weirdness for being poorly programmed robots, Deckard is probably a genuine sex offender whether he's a robot or a person.
