Sounds like crap.

The parts supplier for the cable from the headphones to the stereo is Monster Cable.

I've used 'em all. Sennheisers, high end Sonys, Grados, etc. etc. etc.

Best bang for your buck? A set of AKG K240s. $99 and you'll hear things in your music you never heard before. Simply great cans.

"I've tried all of them, literally every single one. Sony and I set out to create the best headphone in the world.
...
The partners said that the headphones combine "Simon Cowell's expertise seeking perfection in music with Sony's legendary audio engineering."

If they were so legendary why didn't they already have a good set of headphones?

BOSE, that is all.

meh, if they spent half as much on r&d compared to marketing they might make products that were worth the admission price.

Why would I want headphones when I'd rather force everyone around me to listen to whatever crap I'm listening too.

Speaking of headphones, I'm currently in the market for a new set of buds. I used to use Sonys for the longest time, but recently my coat containing them was stolen. My local computer store had a smoking hot deal on some Razer buds that I wasn't expecting much from, but were cheap so I figured what the hell. They weren't half bad, but the headphone jack is on the fritz a mere couple of months after purchase. Of course, they decided to go on the onset of flying from one end of Canada to the other. Hence, I'm currently using some garbage ones picked up from the magazine store of the Vancouver airport.

I'm willing to spend 60-70 bucks. Anyone have any favourites in that price area?

Been needing replacement cans for a while, and that happens to be what I wanted to spend, so thanks.

/Though hearing things in my music I've never heard before might not be entirely a good thing.

I tend to like Sony buds and a decent pair runs 40 to 50 bucks at a Radio Shack. But I don't listen to a lot of music, I use them mostly for audio dramas, so YMMV

Dr. Dre made more than $100 million from being involved in the Beats By Dre headphones and speakers market.

Cowell needs more money, so it all makes sense.

THIS.. I was a life-long KOSS guy until I discovered the K240s. About $100 less than I was dishing out for new KOSS's every 3 years or so.

Not only will it give greater clarity to pre-recorded music, but if you're a guitarist they will blow you the fark away. All your effects will almost seemed like they been re-EQ'd.

I have a set of Labtec LT-820's (not full cans, but full over-ear), that I just can't kill.

Bonus is: they were cheap (I can't even remember what I paid for them, but it wasn't much), they have a long cord, and they sound pretty damn good.

You don't know, maybe Simon Cowell has a bithcing sound system at his home. He is filthy rich.

/I love my $15 headphones. I can hear music through a little wire. It's farking amazing. No wait, they were $10.

Silver colored plastic? Man, those are some cheap, flimsy looking headphones. Anyone who pays full retail for those is an idiot.

I didn't know Iron Maiden were making headphones...

FTA: The X Headphones will compete with Beats Electronics' Beats by Dre headphones.

If *that* is your goal, then you truly don't have the slightest idea what the hell you're doing.

\seriously, beats audio is shyyte

More likely to buy X-Factor-branded earmuffs

Um yeah - Eh-oh!

Simon Cowell's expertise seeking perfection in music

Is that even a sentence?
Maybe "Simon Cowell's expertise in seeking perfection in music"? Even then, it's clunky.

Perfection in music on the X Factor? Perfection in music on the idiot box right now is PBS airing Wagner's Ring Cycle at the Met.
