(610 WIOD)   If you have a 1 yr old in the back seat and a beer in the center console, you're in the South. If you refuse a sobriety test and have a blood alcohol level 3 times the legal limit, you're in Florida   (610wiod.com) divider line 20

Yeah, but that 1 year old was really in no shape to drive.

By choice, I spent some time in AA about 5 years ago. Listening to a guy talk about going to pick up his son while drunk and then killing him when he flipped that car on the freeway was no joke. That's all I have to say.

How the heck is this guy supposed to get this kid to his banjo lessons if he can't drive with a little party liquor on his breath?

Huh?

Growing up I sat in the front, without a car seat, had no idea WTF a center console was, and shared the beer with my dad while he drove.

Snowflakes...

Actually, thinking about it, I was the designated center console.

You gotta drink a lot of that watered down Florida beer to achieve that BAC. Hats off, Reb.

But what about his freedoms?

i'd just like to take this opportunity to say that laws against drinking and driving are incredibly stupid.

driving drunk is, of course, horrible, and people should be harshly punished for it.

but a 5 hour drive is much more enjoyable if you have a beer or two before you go, then another beer every hour or so along the way. at no point would you be intoxicated, or near the legal limit. and if you were to park the car, take the keys out of the ignition, have a beer, then start driving again, then that would be perfectly legal.

if i can drink a coffee or a huge soda while driving, why not a beer?

Silly commenter, Everyone knows that south of Orlando isn't part of the The South, but the rest of the state certainly is. Panhandle is often referred to as L.A.(Lower Alabama) and the beaches there are part of the Redneck Riviera.

Do I know you? Because either you took a driving shift on my last road trip, or you're me.

Quick! Where are we going this weekend?

As a native Floridian, when I finally moved away it took me awhile to figure out why I kept getting strange looks whenever I'd lament no longer having access to all the drive-thru liqueur stores. They were pretty convenient tho; as were the drive-thu convenient store for that matter... Ah well.

As they say, "All the nuts roll down hill to Florida." We sure do. (o;

I agree with him somewhat. If you can have a couple beers right before driving and then drive legally if you are below the legal BAC limit, why shouldnt it be legal to drink a beer while you drive, assuming you stay under the limit?
