I don't understand the anger.

Take this comment FTFA:
I will never apologize for my anger at obama. He is destroying the country I love and does not deserve an apology. His simple act of breathing air makes me angry. Many of us feel that way. And if you support him, I feel pity for you.
What's the source of that? Are they just being manipulated by the right wingnut outrage machine...or, did the president kick their puppy and wipe his ass on their curtains?

Well, in theory Fox News will eventually hit on the one travesty that will cause 49 percent of the electorate to wake up and say, "This is too much. Obama suggested we should serve our community and our fellow citizens. He has finally lost my vote."

Memory is hard. That would require actually reading and retaining information. When you swallow rage, it short circuits the logic portions of the brain. In order to maintain a healthy amount of aggression and ire, you have to toss some things out. Memory is useless in these days of the Interwebz. Especially if you have your browser delete the sites that make you angrier...

From experience... yes. It's actually incredible to hear the complaints about Obama. Not "I don't agree with his policies" (I don't think I've ever, EVER heard about Obama's fiscal ideas), but "Obama is an idiot who uses a teleprompter and he's dumbest ever and he hates us and he's an elitist smartass who should be more serious but less serious and is at fault for everything that happens in the world."

Those old people are doing it wrong. To me, one of the best compensations for getting old is that I don't have to get pissed off about stuff anymore, because it's the same shiat I've seen all my life. They will justify it by saying that some liberal somewhere at some time maybe said something about Bush, so turnabout is fair play. Then they will say how they never voted for Bush and cut you off before you bring up all their comments supporting him years ago.

However, I might as well reset my peace-o-meter cuz the butthurt is going to really start after November. Once the right wingers are stuck with Fartbongo for another 4 years, things are going to get interesting. You think there are conspiracy theories now, wait until they realize that they can't do a damn thing about it. no the latest right wing outrage is another total fabrication.

remember the campaigns supposedly had a truce yesterday from negative remarks right?

okay so we have some protests in Egypt and some rebels overrun the embassy.

right away the right goes on the attack. Blame Obama. Everything that happens is his fault.

the embassy in Syria (not the white house) issues a press release.

Right away Romney tells everyone Obama is "apologizing to the rebels" and fails to"denounce the attacks"

This is before Obama even issues a statement. I'm sure at the time he was probably being briefed on another embassy attack.
This one has an Ambassador losing their life. you can see where he might be preoccupied for a while yesterday.

All because of some redneck preacher incited by all the right wing Islamaphobia in their media and his own ignorance has decided to make a revolting movie?
and instead of taking just a little step back and reflecting on their part in all this. Quit with the hate-mongering. It makes you no better than them.
remember those Sikhs in that temple who were shot? yeah all that crazy has real world consequences. We can't control what they do. But it doesn't mean we need to go around acting like them. Extremism is bad in any flavor.

The thing is: IF Obama had mentioned God, then folks would be complaining about how classy GW was for NOT using is faith in a public fashion. It's not real outrage, it's just an excuse, and no matter what he does, there is a criticism. Because it's not about what he's doing, it's about the mere fact that he ran, and won. It doesn't matter what he does, he's always wrong, and that is part of the issue.

There ARE legitimate criticisms on the President's performance and policy. The problem is that they get lost in the constant weeping and wailing, and thus these legitimate criticisms are drowned out and become part of the background noise. Which is sad, because I think that there are issues that we can bring to the table, and should, but in the sea of DERP these are just so much dross...

That's pretty sad. Can I ask a question, while your Grandfather is spewing hit vitriol does he simultaneously consider himself a good Christian? Mine did... went to Mass every day with grandma in fact. I never understood how he could be so hateful and listen to the Gospel being read everyday to him, it's like maybe he thought he was exempt from Jesus' instructions.

Friggin please. If there really was a god, would it send its only begotten spawn emissary to some obscure group of goat-herders ONLY? Not to the Americas, Europe, Africa, or Australia, but just to one of the Middle Eastern warmongering tribes? If there really was a god, the new testament would have been unnecessary, because god would have gotten it right the first time. Then again, the old testament would have been unnecessary as well, because a real god would have been more responsible than to let a serpent into the nursery. Can any of you fundies explain how all other gods are the result of ignorant peoples' needing explanations for things they couldn't understand, and/ or something to believe in, but yours is not?

From the derp-tastic comments:

Just remember, ZZZ, this comment WILL be replayed during YOUR judgement day in FRONT of the very God you mock. What you do NOT understand is that GOD gave us FREE choice, and on that day, those terrorists made a choice. We do not always know why certain things like this are allowed to happen, but with this sinful move by the terrorists, they all met the one and true God of Abraham that day! As a Christian, i do NOT fear death!

So she shouldn't be outraged at all that 3k people died as if they were True Christians they shouldn't fear death. In fact it brought them closer to Jebus. In a way those terrorists were doing God's work. Sort of like administrators of Penn State football.

And isn't Allah a god of Abraham as well? I thought he was the same one actually. Oh wait Allah is in that foreign language to the area and not God's real one English.

And really what's God's punishment for someone not believing in him?

You see, it's like this. On the morning of Obama's Inauguration Day, the country was in perfect condition in every way. The economy was great. We were at peace with and loved by all countries. Democrats and Republicans lived in harmony. Unicorns roamed our city streets and farted rainbows.

Then Obama was inaugurated, and when Republicans awoke the next day the entire country had been ruined for everyone.

eraser8: I don't understand the anger.

Take this comment FTFA:

I will never apologize for my anger at obama. He is destroying the country I love and does not deserve an apology. His simple act of breathing air makes me angry. Many of us feel that way. And if you support him, I feel pity for you.

What's the source of that? Are they just being manipulated by the right wingnut outrage machine...or, did the president kick their puppy and wipe his ass on their curtains?

lelio: And really what's God's punishment for someone not believing in him?

Going to hang out with the fella who, so I've been told, wasn't a fan of the big guy either.

Authors fails at basic reading comprehension.

FTFA:
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this tenth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America the year two hundred and thirty-seventh.

BARACK OBAMA

If a ship manifest's closing statement's standard form containing "In the year of our Lord", signed by Thomas Jefferson is "proof" that he was a Christian, then Obama that means he mentioned God all the more. Otherwise, Jefferson wasn't Christian enough.

Republican (conservative) logic:

we should fear and hate Muslims because of their religion. Although they believe Jesus was a prophet, they also believe that another prophet came after him and added to the old testament bible.

we should also embrace Mormons as Christians, despite the fact that they believe basically the same thing as the Muslims... that Jesus was a prophet but other prophets came after him (Moroni) and they added their own addendum to the bible.

Also, the Jews are our most important allies in the whole world. They don't believe in Jesus and were, in fact, at least partially responsible for his death... they need money and weapons (lots of money and weapons) to fight off those ignorant savages, the Muslims.

:( That's pretty sad.

Yeah, he used to be on several church committees.

Gramps has always been a raging racist and I think it stems from some kind of misplaced elitism. For example, he used to pick fights with my other grandfather - an immigrant who worked on an oil barge - by saying stuff to my brother and I like, "See kids, this is why you should go to college. So you don't end up an idiot who can't even speak English properly." I was four at the time and knew gramps had some serious issues. (Luckily my other grandfather had an awesome sense of humor and would get right under gramps' skin when he would start up, so I also learned how to deal with assholes :) )

It's some horrible inferiority complex. His own father was an abusive drunk tenant farmer outside of Canton, Ohio. Gramps was pretty proud that he worked his way out of that into being an engineer for IBM. When I heard someone use the phrase "F*ck you, I got mine." I thought it was brilliant and describes his politics perfectly.

So I think the religious reconciliation goes something along the lines of: black people and immigrants - God has a lot to forgive them for and these people need to learn their place. We can't all be on the top and if God wanted them to be rich he'd have made them white. After all Paul says in Corinthians that slaves must obey their masters.

All that being said, I might not be keen on the guy but he's still family. So no more political discussions when he's around, I'd prefer not to kill him. :/

strapp3r: You've gotta work out your own salvation
With no explanation to this earth we fall
On hands and knees we crawl
And we look up to the stars and we reach out and pray
To a deaf, dumb and blind God who never explains sure plays a mean pinball

This made me lul, but as funny as it is, I think there are a lot of people that believe a fairy tale not far off from this.

I think our grand fathers would have gotten along. And good for you being able to keep from angering him.
thanks for answering.

So since I'm airing grievances about family, my dopey aunt was wailing and gnashing her teeth about how Obama has sent the country into the gutter and we'll never get out of the mess he's made.

In December 2008.

So I said, "You know he doesn't actually become president until next month, right?"

"AND LOOK AT ALL THE DAMAGE HE'S DONE ALREADY!"

/I might not be able to pick on gramps, but she's totally fair game

Why should we be thanking God or asking him to protect us? He frickin allowed 9/11 to happen in the first place that son of a biatch.

If only he'd paid attention to those pre 9/11 reports closer. I mean, was he even IN those security meetings? Way to drop the ball, Barry...

Thankfully I have no immediate family members who are like this, only friends and coworkers. That's bad enough.

This is getting so annoying... is it too much to ask the brainiacs at the White House to at least fake like they care about religious people and traditional values within 60 days of an election?

If they could just fake sincerity with the American people, they would win in a landslide.

The president also failed to note how Americans sought solace in their religion in the aftermath of the Al-Qaeda attacks.

Well you see, chuckles, not ALL of us are religious, so not all of us "sought solace in our religion", so it wouldn't have been a true statement.

So there's that...

In other words, now people are attacking Obama because he made a proclamation that didn't have as much Jehovah in it as they think it should have.
