I was going to run a long rant of how incompetent do you have to be to screw that up, but playing around in Google image search... Still pretty incompetent but not as incompetent as you'd expect.

One third or more of images on the first page of Google image search on "Navy ships" are non-US vessels. Willing to be whatever dumbass that was going the background/graphics for that just Google image searched and assumed everything displayed were USN ships.

The lesson is simple: the Democrats need to stick with what they are good at and stop trying to pander to national defense hawks. When they do stuff like this they are about as believable as Romney attempting to be relevant to the lucrative hip-hop/sports-fan demographic by rapping on the topic of astroturf versus fieldgrass.

It was a montage, not actual footage.

Unless I am very mistaken (and I am not a Navy guy, so it is very possible), you don't deploy trainer planes in an actual combat zone (or whatever the term is for where naval vessels hang out near the area where there is combat).

The USN only uses the F-5 for dissimilar air combat training (Top Gun), so unless those ships are sailing the great salt lake, the planes aren't American either.

Since the ships are Black Sea fleet, the aircraft are either Iranian or Turkish.

I like the comments about "This is proof the Democrats want us to become communists". Funny? Yes. Careless? Yes. Slightly insulting to the US military? Maybe at a stretch. Important? Only if you are seriously scraping the barrel for things to attack your political opponents about. If you think this is an important political issue, then you are admitting you have nothing of substance to attack the DNC on, and they are a near perfect political organisation, and they are doing everything right apart from relatively trivial gaffes like this.

Similarly, the third ship has a MR-310 "Head Net" air search radar, shaped like two off-set bananas, at its masthead and is mostly likely the guided missile destroyer Smetlivyy.

The comments on the site reveal a bunch of psychopaths.

Why is Jerusalem important to a U.S. presidential election?

President Obama is the only candidate that supports the idea of a serviceman marrying according to conscience; if you have a candidate that has a better deal for military members, please pass the word but I don't think any veterans are in the running at this point.

I would think that would tend to support my idear that the pic was not a mistake but deliberate saying "yeah, this is why we spend so much money on these guys" although referencing the Russians in 2012 seems a mite silly.

It could have been a simple mistake of course I just think there's an argument to be made that it made a point about the purpose of the US military rather than just taking stock of it's various assets.

I am not denying a shift because there has been a demogrpahic shift. During the 90s the military became a job corps for single moms and they are going to tend to vote democrat but the most of the military is made up of middle class white males from red states and they are going to tend to vote Republican. Even minorities in the military tend to vote Republican in greater numbers than their civilian counterparts.. Heck with two unpoplar wars going on the Democrats still could not break 40% among the people actually fighting the wars as opposed to the psuedo -intellectuals protesting against it.

With the military budget under attack you are going to see military voters facing a concern of theirs that goes beyond pay and benefits. That concern is being well trained and equipped. The Democratic party does not have a good record in that area as anybody who served under Carter and Clinton can attest to.

Google "purple heart band-aid". Basically, back when it was convenient for the the GOP, they sold the narrative that Navy decorations were handed out like participation trophies - in particular Purple Hearts. This was of course to overcome the basic disconnect caused in the Republican brain by a decorated veteran running with a D next to his name.

MFAWG: FWIW, I served under Reagan and never voted Republican again. The unworkable ROE in Beirut and the subsequent, completely foreseeable disaster left a really, really bad taste in my mouth.

I served under Ford through Clinton and Reagan was the best, not perfect, but the best of the lot. Look at the differing leadership styles Beruit vs. Mogadishu. I am going to armchair quaterback here. Now I am certain Reagan did not write the ROEs and Clinton did not pesonally say no tanks and dictate tactics to the Special Ops guys. Heck neither of them were probably involved in that level of planning and ops. Also a lot of what went wrong in both cases was the fault of the local command. In Beruit the ROEs did not prevent the errection of effective barrcades and road blocks and why were so many personnel concetrated in one building? In Mogadishu we understimated our enemy . We repeated the same tactics for 5 or 6 raids so when they launched the next one the enemy was able to prepare. A little more respect for the enemy's capabilities and a rescue might have not been necessary .

How did each Administration react to the incidents. For Beruit Reagan accepted responsibility and promised never to put us (the military) in those circumstances again. For Mogadishu Clinton claimed to be "out of the loop" and Sec Deg Les Aspi was thrown under the bus and Les Aspin was not bad as Sec Defs go. Now given your miltary leadership training who showed the better leadership characteristics?

Well that and the way they treat the military absentee voter. But they do not worry too much about it as they really have written off the military vote as a whole. They are lucky to get 40% in Presidential elections.

Now now, by way of battling any law the requires you have ID to vote, the Dems have fought for the right of EVERYONE to vote...except those serving their country overseas.

Oh man, all my google-fu detective work went in the closed thread.

Here's the actual stock image.

The copyright holder is Vakhrushev Pavel.

Given that a high res version is available for purchase, I'm sure the visual guy just paid for the stock photo without looking at the photographer's name (nothing else describes that they're russian ships) and added in the super fancy jets and such.

Lazy, sure, but not an intentional jab at the Navy or anything.

Kazrath: AverageAmericanGuy: Try as they might, the liberals can't shake their Marxist ties.

You do realize an "Average American Guy" is a borderline moron? So you have like a 90 IQ and a shiatty job flipping burgers. You go mister average!

Otherwise, you are just another lying hypocrite republican.

Hey, that mean's there is a 50/50 chance you have a lower IQ than him!

Not true. NY Police boats do not look like NY garbage scows. Think that is the limit of the NY Navy.

It took a long time because most people were distracted by the political theater on the stage.

/I think they are still distracted.

XveryYpettyZ: Yeah! I bet the farking president of the farking United States made that video montage with his own two hands.

I think the point is the President and his democratic cronies wouldn't know military equipment from their own asscracks, and that remains true.

Youse fergot the Staten Island Ferry, it's their first line of defense.

MFAWG: hasty ambush: quatchi: hasty ambush: They are lucky to get 40% in Presidential elections.

That's changing.

Military Times polls are interesting only if you are interested in what subscribers to that mag think not the military as a whole. That noted, their polls are not without some use.

This data show a shift of comparable magnitude--only during this administration the military has begun to shift away from the Republican Party. Over the last three years the Military Times surveys have shown a decline in Republican Party identification of 14% among active-duty Army respondents and an overall decline of 13% among senior Army officers.

FWIW, I served under Reagan and never voted Republican again. The unworkable ROE in Beirut and the subsequent, completely foreseeable disaster left a really, really bad taste in my mouth.

Two Marines from recruit platoon 2074 died in Beirut. I was proud to be their friend, and squad mate.

You Sir, are filth. But I will apologize about the bad taste I left in your mouth.

I mistook it for a toilet.
