So Sarah Palin automatically becomes president and Barack "The Whack" HUSSEIN Fartbongo has to swab the poopdeck for the next 4 years.

Heh heh, poopdeck.

So it was picture of American jet fighter trainers flying over the Black Sea Fleet 6+ years ago?

Perhaps it wasn't a mistake and honoring the Americans in the pic was the point.

/Yeah, not likely to occur to a Navy guy, just sayin'.

It's pretty consistent with their past statements on the American military.

I was going to run a long rant of how incompetent do you have to be to screw that up, but playing around in Google image search... Still pretty incompetent but not as incompetent as you'd expect.

One third or more of images on the first page of Google image search on "Navy ships" are non-US vessels. Willing to be whatever dumbass that was going the background/graphics for that just Google image searched and assumed everything displayed were USN ships.

The lesson is simple: the Democrats need to stick with what they are good at and stop trying to pander to national defense hawks. When they do stuff like this they are about as believable as Romney attempting to be relevant to the lucrative hip-hop/sports-fan demographic by rapping on the topic of astroturf versus fieldgrass.

What if the person making the video montage just didn't know the difference?

Nah.

Bush's fault.

OH MY GODDDDD!!!

Romney is so out of touch with America! You want this man to be Commander In Chief of our military and he can't even tell the difference between American and Russian ships? Herrrrrrrr! Derrrrrrrrrrp!

Oh wait...it was the DNC?

Nevermind then. Honest mistake.

Well that and the way they treat the military absentee voter. But they do not worry too much about it as they really have written off the military vote as a whole. They are lucky to get 40% in Presidential elections.

It was a montage, not actual footage.

Unless I am very mistaken (and I am not a Navy guy, so it is very possible), you don't deploy trainer planes in an actual combat zone (or whatever the term is for where naval vessels hang out near the area where there is combat).

2012-09-12 07:41:49 AM
Reminds me of John McCain at the 2008 RNC with a backdrop of Walter Reed. Not the famous veteran's hospital, of course, Walter Reed High School in Los Angeles.

2012-09-12 07:44:35 AM
The USN only uses the F-5 for dissimilar air combat training (Top Gun), so unless those ships are sailing the great salt lake, the planes aren't American either.

Since the ships are Black Sea fleet, the aircraft are either Iranian or Turkish.

hasty ambush: They are lucky to get 40% in Presidential elections.

That's changing.

Miltary Times polls are interesting only if you are interested in what subscribers to that mag think not the military as a whole. That noted, their polls are not without some use.

This data show a shift of comparable magnitude--only during this administration the military has begun to shift away from the Republican Party. Over the last three years the Military Times surveys have shown a decline in Republican Party identification of 14% among active-duty Army respondents and an overall decline of 13% among senior Army officers.

2012-09-12 07:56:56 AM
This in no way could have been some idiot in the production company hired to create said montage that probably got lazy and found stock footage of "airplanes" to splice into the film or anything. Like that's never happened before.

I like the comments about "This is proof the Democrats want us to become communists". Funny? Yes. Careless? Yes. Slightly insulting to the US military? Maybe at a stretch. Important? Only if you are seriously scraping the barrel for things to attack your political opponents about. If you think this is an important political issue, then you are admitting you have nothing of substance to attack the DNC on, and they are a near perfect political organisation, and they are doing everything right apart from relatively trivial gaffes like this.

2012-09-12 08:02:37 AM
Similarly, the third ship has a MR-310 "Head Net" air search radar, shaped like two off-set bananas, at its masthead and is mostly likely the guided missile destroyer Smetlivyy.

I'm a navy vet and find this to be a funny mistake.

Hollywood always screws this stuff up, local news is worse (frigates and carriers become battleships all the time)

The comments on the site reveal a bunch of psychopaths.

Why is Jerusalem important to a U.S. presidential election?

President Obama is the only candidate that supports the idea of a serviceman marrying according to conscience; if you have a candidate that has a better deal for military members, please pass the word but I don't think any veterans are in the running at this point.

So... a shooped pic then?

I would think that would tend to support my idear that the pic was not a mistake but deliberate saying "yeah, this is why we spend so much money on these guys" although referencing the Russians in 2012 seems a mite silly.

It could have been a simple mistake of course I just think there's an argument to be made that it made a point about the purpose of the US military rather than just taking stock of it's various assets.

George McGovern flew 35 missions over Germany as a bomber pilot, winning a DFC in the process.
