It's "cello" tape, not "sello" tape. Cello, as in Cellophane (which is what it's made of).

Can we agree that an OCD is not an addiction? An addiction is physical. If an alcoholic stops cold turkey, the withdrawal can kill them. That's an addiction.
You can be obsessed with any activity, but that doesn't make it an addiction. These people still need help, but they are not addicted.

Like alcohol, the more you consume, the more it seems like a good idea.

Alcohol wears off, though.

Yes...that'll be why Cellotape.com takes you to a company specialising in specialist printing and SELLOtape.com takes you to the company that produces, arm sellotape or sticky tape if you don't want to use the brand name...

No, I don't agree.

I'm OCD and there are things that I can't stop doing no matter their detriment to my health and in some cases my finances. Maybe you call this "strong habits" instead of "addiction" but it leads in the same direction.

\example: buying lots of chocolate "for work" and then eating most of it myself

Addiction is the predisposition to continue using something or performing a certain behavior despite adverse effects(1). What you get addicted to is up to you (not biology). Certainly it's easier to get addicted to a substance that has physiologic side effects (meth), but it's not necessary for someone to be "addicted".

You can get more specific by talking about the physiologic or psychological aspects of addiction. Substance abuse often leads to physical addiction where you get physiologic symptoms of withdrawal (the shakes).

If you have an addictive personality you can also experience psychological symptoms from stopping whatever activity it was that you got addicted to (like video games or touching parking meters). The psychological symptoms are typically very mild (a craving), which is why it's never talked about; or on the other end of the spectrum such as an obsession and compulsion where the stopping of a certain activity will cause severe distress (touching a doorknob 5 times).

Also, the lady in this article is lying or just plain insane.

monkeyman3875: Addiction is....

Or rather I should say that addiction is the continued use of or continuation of a behavior.... addictive personality is the predisposition to continue using/behaving...etc.

It all started for her way back in the first grade, when she took that first taste of glue. It all seemed like harmless fun at the time - exciting, satisfying, rewarding, enlightening. But now look at her!

Kids, don't let this happen to you! Just say no to glue! Tell your parents or teacher immediately if anyone offers you some/

I've always thought that scotch tape has a nice sort of "pine" scent to it. Since I've never considered pine needles or such to be particularly tasty, it hadn't occurred to me to try a bite.

/About to try a 1/2" strip just now, for Fark and SCIENCE!
//...Verdict: Yuck.
///To quote Tallahassee, "not the taste- the consistency."
