"Later, he felt guilty about lying and came clean to his coach."

"coach Parsons has had to discipline a young man,"

The whole article reads like a cheap 70's gay p0rn novel.

I'm squicked out by the age of the boyfriend, but the coach shouldn't have kicked the kid off of the team over it. Poor kid acted like most closeted kids his age would have acted when confronted in that situation.

Also, agree that the whole thing sounds like a setup for a bad porno.

Revek: Coach is just hiding his own gay tendency's.

He's obviously lying about the reason he kicked the player of the team, so by his own logic, he should be fired.

Plus, even if he were telling the truth, he'd still be an asshat.

Mmmmkay, agreed the coach was a dick to throw the kid off the team for that. I smell a lawsuit.

But dude. I'm dating someone 18 years younger than myself, and that age gap is daunting. Dating a college kid when I'm 65? Bloody hell, there's something wrong there.

As far as his football career, Kuntz says he's not giving up. He may pursue it as a walk-on at another university outside North Dakota.

''I miss it already,'' he said.

He lost his scholarship when he got kicked off the team.

That's not the reason he quit college, though:

''Football didn't work out, so there was no reason to stay,'' said Kuntz, who lives with his mother across the state in Dickinson.

I was all ready to be outraged on behalf of the gay football dude, and then I reached the point in the Dan Savage article where he revealed the age of his grand-pappy 'boyfriend'.

Now I'm conflicted. It really shouldn't matter, but I think the kid is a a freak for wanting to fark a 65 year old. I'm less-inclined to be sympathetic towards both of them now.

FTA: Kuntz, 18, and on a partial football scholarship, left the college in southeast North Dakota this month after his dismissal from the team.

So the kid is injured and can't play so he is assigned the job of filming the game for the team and can't help but make out with some dude who drove himself to school the day Kennedy was assassinated and he's now crying discrimination for being let go from the team after lying to his coach about it? I'm pretty sure if another team member was making out with Marvelous Mable Prom Queen '64 while representing the team during a game and lied about it he'd be let go too. Get over yourself already kid.

Hmm wait a second. If he's gay and he's in a football team full of straight guys and their opponents are also straight, does he get sexually aroused? Isn't this a little similar to what happens if it's a guy who's playing in a women's team? It's like he's surrounded by sexy stuff and there's a lot of touching going on.

Ah this is confusing, I wonder if some of his friends/opponents feel like they've been sexually harassed because he might have seen their naked bodies during shower time and not telling them that he's gay, things like that.

Maybe he should've told his team that he was gay right at the very start just so to avoid confusion and trust issues.

If the coach confronted the kid about his boyfriend, he likely violated the school's own sexual harassment policy (page 2 of this pdf). If the coach really just asked who the stranger in the booth was, then he may be able to get out of any potential lawsuit:

Harassment
The North Dakota State College of Science prohibits harassment based on gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or protected activity (such as reporting alleged harassment or providing information related to a grievance).

Harassment (based on an individual's membership in one or more of the groups identified above) is defined, for purposes of this statement, as unwelcome verbal or physical behavior which has the intent or effect of unreasonably interfering with the individual's employment or academic endeavors or creating a hostile, intimidating or offensive environment. Harassment may include (but is not limited to) jokes, derogatory comments, pictures and/or direct physical advances.

Student Sexual Harassment Policy and Procedures
The North Dakota State College of Science, in compliance with state and federal regulations, will not tolerate sexual harassment of its students by anyone; including supervisors, faculty, customers, employees, visitors or other students.
Please see the NDSCS Guide to Student Rights and Responsibilities for a complete copy of the Sexual Harassment Policy and Procedures.

If his boyfriend is 65, something is wrong with him. Not saying he should've been kicked off of the team, but the normal 19-year-old doesn't have a 65-year-old boyfriend, and I don't care about personality.

2012-09-12 03:23:34 AM
Two things

1) The mom could look at that picture and not know?
2) FTA- Parsons specifically noted the manual's section on ''lying to coaches, teachers or other school staff.'' Sorry, but no lie is a valid reason when the question being asked is none of your damn business in the first place. The coach should be fired for USING this as an excuse.

Was my first reaction too, but the coach said he let him go for lying about the kiss. Seems he admitted it.

Do a lot of 18-year-old men date 65-year-old men? I can't think the dynamics of a hetero relationship exactly mirror this, but is this anything like a trophy wife, or sugardaddy situation?

I don't think the issue is that the kid is gay so much as the fact he was making out with his significant other (who happens to be a creepy old man) in the booth while acting as a representative of the team (after all he is a team member) assigned to film the game. He then lied about doing that even though there were witnesses to it happening so he then came clean and as a result was let go.

Again I bet if a different team member was fooling around with a same aged girlfriend in the booth while filming a game (to clarify: a member of the team during a game) and lied about it even though there were witnesses he'd be sent packing to. Kids on teams at small colleges like this one are released for dumb infractions all the time. These colleges don't tend to have such a stake in sports so as a result their student athletes aren't cut the slack and given the run of the school like "student athletes" at big time division 1A schools.

The kid did something he knew he shouldn't be doing (making out in the booth while representing the team during a game), lied about it, got called on it and fessed up. As a result he was let go. Though shiat but him crying discrimination over it is nothing more than saying he should be allowed to break rules and lie about it because he's gay. That's not the way things are supposed to work.

2012-09-12 03:46:34 AM
This is about more than gayness. Its about having a significant around while you're performing a team function. I can't imagine too many football coaches reacting well to the idea of a player having his girlfriend in the film booth during the game, and then being lied to about it.

Wouldn't y'all say that a coach would be within his right to dismiss a player if he brought his girlfriend into the film booth during the game and then proceeded to kiss her, instead of paying attention to the game, and then lied about it?
