Sealab died when the actor who voiced captain Murphy did.

2012-09-11 11:47:44 PM
Williams Street lost the rights to the HB stuff, that's why no more HB based shows.

Anyway, when did B.E.T. buy out Adult Swim is what I want to know.

As long as Black Dynamite, Venture Brothers, and Robot Chicken keep rolling along I'm good.

/misses the Boondocks
//did subby get that thing, i sent him?

At least they're animated shows.

Cartoon Network greenlights two new series, still refuses to bring back Harvey Birdman and Space Ghost and Sealab anything truly cartoon-related.

/hey, I watched it in the 90s. Can ya blame me?
//they still doing that reality-show networkdecay shiat nowadays?

2012-09-12 01:06:45 AM
Every show runs its course subby. Besides, as long as H. John Benjamin is alive, the title of the show doesn't matter.

2012-09-12 01:14:14 AM
a few things:

-Adult Swim, Nielsen and operations-wise, is a wholly separate entity from Cartoon Network despite sharing the channel space, and has been for a few years now
-Harvey Birdman effectively ended when Stephen Colbert no longer had time for it, and the creators chose to end the series rather than continue it without him for much longer than they had to.
-the Sealab people are doing Archer now. Leave them alone and let them work.
-Space Ghost C2C sucked. There. I said it.

TheManofPA: /misses the Boondocks

Season 4 is in production now.

cretinbob: Williams Street lost the rights to the HB stuff, that's why no more HB based shows.

Right.. Williams Street, a wholly owned subsidiary of TBS, lost the rights to Hanna-Barbera, a wholly owned asset of TBS.

Anyway, when did B.E.T. buy out Adult Swim is what I want to know.

Loiter Squad and the Eric Andre show suck.. a lot.. but Boondocks and Black Dynamite are awesome

/are you also counting The Cleveland Show (which starts airing in a couple of weeks)?

2012-09-12 02:17:58 AM
Nope, they didn't get the team for Korgoth of Barbaria back together. Fark 'em in the creamhole. Apparently it was too expensive (probably because it was actually a decently animated show and not some cheap Flash animated turd) and they balked...despite the pilot being one of the best damned things they've ever aired.

2012-09-12 03:54:16 AM
Bah. Call me when Toonami gets a Gundam series going.

/AGE doesn't count.
//Really want Unicorn.

I'm mildly curious to know if that Annoying Orange series that Cartoon Network recently premiered is any good or if it's another case of web content failing to adapt well to the tube (like FarkTV).

Oh, the 90's. You're missed.

Pretty stupid that they linked to the two shows... ... which led right back to the story they were linked from.

Well, at least Sunday mornings aren't hours upon hours of Inuyasha anymore.

Man, I'd forgotten about that. Now I'm angry all over again. There was so much potential for greatness there.

Harvey Birdman was teh awsum. But not as good as Coronation Street.

I actually don't mind the open ended ending. Jack traveling around, righting wrongs, and
Coming to terms with the fact that he will probably never get home. That is not to say he doesn't still try but he comfortable with his new purpose in life.

/favorite show ever

How about not showing King of the Hill, Family Guy and American Dad 20 times a night and try out some new stuff. I would be happy if they added Adventure Time to the Adult Swim line up.

Those are some of their highest rated shows and I'm sure they pay quite a bit for them. Be happy they draw enough people to allow them to make other stuff.

Exactly. Not even needing new stuff, just show a season of the old stuff, one episode a week. Sealab, Space Ghost, etc...Sure, I own the seasons on dvd, but when I bust those out it turns into drinking a 12 pack and watching all of them in a row. That's bad for work production the next day...oh well, back to work I guess.

This. I occasionally flip to AS just to see what's airing... And I am thoroughly disappointed. I know stations change as years pass... But I want the old AS back! I want Futurama, Family Guy, ATHF, Sealab, Robot Chicken, Harvey Birdman, Home Movies, The Oblongs, SG:C2C, etc. They had a few quirky shows I didn't like: 12 oz. Mouse, Squidbillies... For some reason, I couldn't turn away from Perfect Hair Forever, though. It was terrible, yet I couldn't stop watching.

fusillade762: I will watch that block again when they announce they are showing public executions of Tim & Eric.

I remember the first time I watched that show. I turned it off after five minutes and decided I should just avoid all new shows on AS forever, because if they'll put that on the air, they're not to be trusted.

I don't use enough drugs to make Tim and Eric remotely funny.

They had clips of the Halloween special at DragonCon this year, but were still iffy on the point of when season 5 is coming.

I think it's the creators that are dragging ass. Again. The new season is slated for 2013, which means it will probably air sometime in early 2014.

I know I'm gonna catch flak, but...bring back Tower Prep, damnit. Shift it to another channel if you need to, Turner, but bring it back. To me, it was honestly an interesting series.

Don't shows like KotH, American Dad, and FG make it possible for them to find new projects? Thy have to be the most watched AS shows by far.

2012-09-12 10:09:59 AM
I'm still pissed that they never gave us another season of "Stroker and Hoop".

Which means you missed out on "12 oz. Mouse", "Perfect Hair Forever", "Squidbillies" and "Super Milk Chan".

And by "missed out on" I mean you made a pretty good decision. Maybe it's because I'm getting old but holy shiat those inspired me to cancel my cable subscription.

Metalocalypse is pretty funny though (done by the same guy who did Home Movies)

/haven't actually watched Cartoon Network since 2007
