...must offset the paxil

2003-11-24 08:57:06 AM
Well, it's not sharks with frickin' lasers on their foreheads, but having them jazzed up on caffeine doesn't make me feel any better.

2003-11-24 09:05:34 AM
I blame those idiots who dumped all that tea into Boston Harbour.

2003-11-24 09:14:58 AM
Mmmm....caffeine....

Marketing. Starbucks is trying to get fish addicted to caffeine. Cha-ching!

Axoplasm - Starbucks Atlantis?

2003-11-24 10:41:56 AM
Great, just great. Something else Mormons won't be allowed to do.

2003-11-24 11:26:14 AM

great... that explains this.

It was later discovered that the samples were in fact just blue bottles of Bawls, the highly caffinated guarana drink! Tasty and not sea water, sadly.

2003-11-24 12:23:21 PM
I was wondering why the fish hadn't blinked in a while.

2003-11-24 02:04:34 PM
Do you know the street value of this sea?!?

2003-11-24 02:04:42 PM
Well, those fish are just going to have to deal with it,aren't they? cuz I'm not giving up my morning coffee.

"We have almost no information about what kind of problems caffeine can cause in nature. It is a poison and at very high concentrations it can affect the nervous system"

okay, now i'm worried. i drink gallons of caffeine drinks. how much is poisonous? How much affects your nervous system?

What a business opportunity!

Collect the water and filter it properly, so that it is pure except for the high concentrations of caffeine. Then, sell it as special water to use to make extra strong Espresso with!

It'd be the discounted version of "Water Joe".

Must be from all those bottles of Sierra Mist that people are throwing out.

2003-11-24 02:08:05 PM
At least 5 pots of coffee at once would be probably be required for toxic effects. Half a cup affects your nervous system.

Does anyone remember the commercial with Charlie the Tuna? He was always holding a cup of coffee! Coincidence? I think not!!

....next up as a bottled drink on www.thinkgeek.com, seawater!

Today we have secretly replaced Norway's normal Sea with Folgers.

got nothin

...and that the catch phrase was "Sorry, Charlie!" This means we knew about the problem 50 years ago and are just now reacting to it. Shame on you, scientists.

Here's a link to a caffeine FAQ which includes some information on dosages and toxicity.

I can't belive no one has posted this yet:
Amount of Mountain Dew it woult take you kill you.

If I drank 182 cans instantly, theres a 50% chance I would die from caffine, and a 100% chance I would die from fluid intake and a sugar coma.

2003-11-24 02:15:51 PM
imagine in 100 years what our waters will be like.....SAD.

2003-11-24 02:16:45 PM
Explain the recent years' rise in shark attacks.

Can't clean it out now, cause those sharks'll probably get really grumpy without their morning coffee.

2003-11-24 02:17:33 PM
It's not a 100% chance, Nafferz. That's just what the juice industry wants you to believe.

2003-11-24 02:17:35 PM
Korovyov:

just read your FAQ: i'm going to die...

What about Diet Mountain Dew?

I'd worry about all the fish poop first.

2003-11-24 02:21:34 PM
I think Norway has some strange wildlife, hyper fish, drunken moose and now beavers that have a grudge agains buses

2003-11-24 02:22:13 PM
i'd think that if you were capable of drinking 182 cans of mountain dew instantly, you've got some bigger and more interesting problems to think about...

2003-11-24 02:22:17 PM
And somehow, marijuana is still the worse drug.

Not that I have any room talking. Everyone in my family starts drinking coffee at the age of 5...

2003-11-24 02:27:46 PM
Fish: I AM CORNHOLIO! I NEED TP FOR MY BUNGHOLE!

2003-11-24 02:29:45 PM
I was looking, but I wasn't able to find the exact density (g/mL) of mountain dew. Instead, I just stuck with the 1gm/ML that water is. 182 cans would be 143 pounds of Mountain dew! (Probably more like 170-180 once you factor in the sugar)

2003-11-24 02:30:31 PM
My bad. I spilled a can of Mountain Dew the last time I was fishing. Sorry about that.

2003-11-24 02:30:54 PM
I know this is true because one time I saw a really peppy sand crab.

In other news, Jabberjaw suffering from nasty rebound headaches.

The Mississippi is much worse believe me. I know people who do water quality samples for Missouri. Ibuprofen and Tylenol just pass right out of us into the water supply. The mississippi is full of it, along with Caffeine. The only reason people don't really take notice is that there are so many worse toxins in the water that caffeine is the least of their worries.

2003-11-24 02:46:38 PM
It's not "the sea", it's 7-11's new "Planetary Gulp".

2003-11-24 02:48:20 PM
Windowdoggy sez: "The only reason people don't really take notice is that there are so many worse toxins in the water that caffeine is the least of their worries."

Yes. Sort of an unscientific experiment, if you will, being performed on the natural world and what may come of it all no one can possibly say.

But don't y'all worry your little heads about it. After all, there's a War on!

What about Diet Mountain Dew?

7 cans.
