Weedon and Vick tied for turnovers, but I think Vick should get it based off the first tie-breaker rule. His turnovers took what should have been a Philly drubbing and made it a nail-biter down to the last minute.

Are Fox and Graziano battling it out to see who can release the worst list again this year?

Considering the scabs missed half of the calls that should have occurred, just be glad it wasn't any worse.

Pats end up first because ESPN is in CT. There is no reason for them to be ahead of any of the top 5 NFC teams.

Dang.

Stay positive, long season, yada yada. Frustrating loss, drop to 16 is appropriate, for now.

Also, I'd vote Cleveland to be this weeks bottom-feeders, over Indy.

I disagree. Weeden got sacked by the American Flag. If that isn't in the spirit of failure the Jake embodies, I don't know what is.

It's just one week but if the Giants Defense shiats the bed again next week and the Cowboys beat Seattle then I could see the Cowboys higher than the Giants.

Except they were #2 before and the #1 team was just beaten and has obvious flaws (can't run the ball or defend).

That said, the Pats should be #2 behind San Francisco, as they do not appear to have any weakness at all and the Pats, while obviously improved in areas they had issues with last year, are still untested.

That, and with their current injuries, they just aren't very good. If they get healthy later, they might be decent, but that certainly isn't the case today.

I think all teams who won after week one should be above all teams who lost. Then as the season goes, let the records sort everything out. Over rated will settle and under rated will rise. *shrug*

They don't deserve to be higher than the 9ers that's for sure. Ravens should be higher than them as well.

I just looked at Fox Sports and they seem to have a more accurate list. Cowboys at 6 and Giants at 9, and CBS had the Giants at 14. The Giants will be lucky to get a Wild Card, or even go 8-8.

Packers & Giants both got knocked down 4 spots (that's a lot). The thing with these rankings is that it's not really about where the teams are, it's where they are in relation to last week's rankings. I think they vote for like, "up 4 spots" or "down 1 spot" for how they played. That's why week 1 is SO important and SO useless, considering they come out before one regular season game is played. That being said....

TheJoe03: Plus the Redskins should be ahead of the Eagles, I mean this is the power ranking, right?

Eagles should be #32.

Patriots are mediocre, they've been mediocre for the last 5 years. They're the best team in a crappy division and really don't deserve to be in the top-5 let alone #1.

ESPN needs to seriously reconsider how highly they rate NE.

The NFL admitted that the refs cost Oakland their final play yesterday. The game cannot end on a punt downed by the punting team by rule.

Another rule the refs don't know, like the number of time-outs in a half.

Market correction. Think they had a bit of inflationary preseason momentum. See Simmons, Bill.

Bears at 8 is fine by me. Not a whole lot to learn from blowing out the Colts, but I suspect they'll make a game of it in Green Bay. The O-line looked better than it should have because Freeney went out, but they did an adequate job in the run and the pass games. Also, what do you call those tall guys catching all of those passes? I thought they were a myth.

The defense is shakily scary: the nickel down line was getting to Luck all day, and WTF is up with Tim Jennings, but it all hinges on Urlacher being able to cover the deep middle. If he can't, the whole thing falls apart against a good QB.

I really think the Skins are going to be a surprise team this year. I definitely expect them to end the season ahead of Philly.

I don't think that anyone in the NFC East is particularly good. Philly still isn't going to live up to the hype. The Giants went all the way due to a lot of good luck (same as 2007) so I really don't think they are going to repeat. Dallas will probably snatch defeat from the jaws of victory *again*.

That they started at 5 is a joke. I didn't understand how supposed experts overrated them last year and I really don't get how they did it again this year. They are a team with serious fundamental flaws, not the least of which is their QB. They shouldn't be #32 but they should be in the bottom half of the league.

And Vick deserves the Jake, since he was the only one in the running who wasn't starting his first professional game - and he was doing it against maybe the worst team in the league.

Overall I think Vick was the better keep than Kolb. Or were you looking for Foles to start?

Nadie_AZ: I've never seen so many flags thrown in games before. It was a terrible product on Sunday.

Yeah, in the Steelers/Broncos game, the ref tried to give the option for Denver to decline a false start penalty, one that happens before the ball is live and does not come with the option to accept or decline. Of course, THEN the coach for the Broncos pissed his pants because he couldn't decline the penalty. I didn't get the complaining if you knew it wasn't legal anyway.

He won the game twice and was thwarted by Baldwin and Edwards. I was severely disappointed. If I'm being honest, there's no way the Cards should have scored even 20 points on our D. There were stretches in that game that were so uncharactaristic of the new Seattle defense. You expect Fitzgerald to make catches, but to have Dre Roberts carving up your D is unacceptable. Not making Skelton uncomfortable at all in the first half was inexcusable when you consider the inexperienced patchwork O-Line AZ had out there. That said, we almost won and still are considered the biggest loser of the week? Come on.

I would disagree, but I see why everyone is taking a "prove it" stance on Wilson and the Seahawks offense.

I was looking for the Eagles to not sign Vick at all. But they did. Then after last year it should have been obvious that Vick isn't going to work in the NFL. But they kept him. I'm not saying that Foles is the future of this team, but it should be obvious that Vick isn't, and the Eagles should have been coming up with a plan to fix that.

I was pretty impressed with the way they made half time adjustments on the Cards. The Cards did not adjust to the changes very well at all. I was very flabbergasted at the pathetic calls during the last Seattle drive. Terribly ref'd game.

They're not #5 but they're not a bottom half team. They were +68 in point differential last year and the defense should be better this year even if Vick's fascination with the across-the-body-into-traffic-on-the-run throw continues to amaze.

2012-09-11 05:46:41 PM
Given ESPN's 15-year long mancruch on Peyton Manning, I'm surprised the Broncos didn't jump into the top 5, but I'll take 9 for now. We knock off the Falcons next week and we're definitely in the top 5.

Di Atribe: Eagles should be #32.

Well, in that case, the Raiders should be #33. :)

He's owed a lot this year but not much after this year. It was a terrible, terrible signing but it's almost over.
