Gig103: Good for NBC. A moment of silence is enough to get people to flip channels. If they land on NBC before they get to the cable networks, they might stay.
Gunny Highway: There is some major 9/11 backlash in this thread. Where does it come from? Why is everyone so ho hum about it?
mc_madness: 9/11 is OLD NEWS. I'd rather listen about an old woman's tit job any day.fark this "Oh Woe is me" 9/11 reflection bullshiat. MOre tits please.
craig328: You want to be a reverent patriot? Fine, do it quietly. You wanna be a smug jaded asshole with nothing nice to say? Fine, do it quietly.
craig328: My daughter is 12, my son is now 10. We both sat down this evening and watched the 102 minutes show on History. No commentary until the end...just eyewitness videos of that morning from 9 different perspectives. Nobody telling them what to think, how to react...just showing them what happened. We discussed much about it. I think that my daughter finally gets it after seeing video of something falling down the side of tower 1 and asking what it was. I told her it was a person and she asked why they jumped. I had to explain to her that all those people got up that morning, got cleaned up, dressed, maybe had something to eat and kissed the spouse and maybe kids goodbye and went into work. By 9:45 on a day that was supposed to be like any other, they had to decide whether to burn to death or jump to their death. She'd been aware of what 9-11 was and what happened but I think that's the first time that she truly "got it".Anyway, the shows on television about 9-11 were worthwhile at my house this year. I don't know that I'll ever be as smug and jaded and flippant about mass murder as some of Fark seems to be. Sorry it's such a drag to those folks. You can get back to your mass consumerism and constant, everpresent entertainment and attention deficit disorder tomorrow.
FarkKing: How long were these moments of silence? 1 minute? 3 minutes? 5 minutes? ... I'm sorry, but if we need to stop talking about boobs for more than a few seconds, the terrorists have already won./boobs
Gunny Highway: The Homer Tax: What sane person gives a shiat?I dont think anyone is upset but you dont find it curious at all? Why would they do that?I think I would have the same "what were they thinking?" reaction if they had Paris Hilton talking about her new merkin instead of going to the president at a memorial for the Oklahoma City Bombing. It isnt rage worthy, it is just really strange. There is some major 9/11 backlash in this thread. Where does it come from? Why is everyone so ho hum about it?
Ow! That was my feelings!: Mytch: Being patriotic is like being religious. If you want to be, that's great. If you go around trying to shame other people for not being as patriotic as you, then you're an arsehole.Shut up, you commie-hippie![img833.imageshack.us image 341x393]
downstairs: Meh. While I don't care about Kris Jenner at all, these "required" tributes are getting a little out of hand. And while I didn't watch NBC today (and never watch morning shows)... I'm pretty damn sure they mentioned 9/11 many other times.
