The incident prompted U.S. security guards to fire off a volley of warning shots as a large crowd gathered outside, apparently upset about the production of a Dutch film thought to insult the Prophet Mohammed, said CNN producer Mohammed Fahmy, who was on the scene.

Reason #8,472 that the US should stay the hell out of the Middle East.

FTA: Others expressed more general grievances about U.S. policy, chanting anti-American slogans and holding up bits of a shredded American flag.

Great. What did we do this time?

We should apparently stay out of Holland as well.

I'd say we could stop getting involved in the Middle East, but we all know that's not going to happen.

What's next? Are they going to lynch the Ronald McDonald statue out in front of their local McDonald's?

Maybe the embassy should hand out some like such as maps to point out we aren't the Dutch.

IIRC, it's happened in the Middle East before, in response to the famous Mohammed cartoon, but I forgot which country.

Allah and Mohammed are big, tough and all-powerful - they require their followers to do all the heavy lifting - especially if it requires beating down women and children.

/ Not so fast there Judaism or its cult offshoot (Xtianity) you don't get a free pass either (see middle ages, modern times). None of your gods (YAHWEH, Jesus, etc) are anything more then sky-fairy pussies who never seem to be able to do anything themselves.

Maybe we should ask Egypt's military to to reinstall Mubarak and that instead of taking away their U.S. foreign aid if the government didn't stop beating up protesters, that we will take their foreign aid if they don't start beating up some protesters.

All America embassies in the Middle East should be made out of pork.

But they're rational and deserving of our patience and tolerance.

We get it. He's Mohammed.

Buildin' military bases on Muslim holy land? That's a jihad.

Drawin' pictures of Mohammed? That's a jihad.

Declarin' a jihad? Oh, you best believe that's a jihad.

At this point, I kind of feel sorry for the youth of Egypt. They sacrificed much to oust an iron-fisted government and gain some freedom, only to have the extremists swoop in to fill the void and begin the cycle again.

How stupid!

That would be like us invading Iraq because of 9/11.

At least one soldier was killed in Afghanistan in riots after he burned the Koran.

This is a high overreaction. The US Gov didn't make the film, a private citizen did. And we should be standing up for his right to free speech. Yeah, he is a douchebag, but to blame him for hooligans storming the US embassy is a bit much. These extremists hate the US and will use any excuse it can to pour their hatred on us.

Does Terry own the embassy? Does he work in the embassy? Was he even in the embassy? None of those. These folks attacked innocent people. If you have a complaint take it to the guy you have the complaint with, not use it as an excuse to legitimize your hatred and attack innocents.

Think of 9/11. Non-extremist Muslims were attacked only because they were Muslims. This is bigotry.

Can we please send him over as a peace offering? They can do whatever they want with him in exchange for helping us respect their religion. Or something. Either way, can we do it please?

If one black person rapes a white girl, and a mob goes out an lunches an innocent black man, when the real culprit is foun, should he be charged as an accessory to murder, too?

No. It wasn't his intention for that innocent black person to be killed for biggotry.
